For sale, MAZDA RX8 SR20DET S14A CONVERSION, IN BLACK, CHEAPER TO RUN, TORQUIER AND A HELL OF A LOT MORE RELIABLE!

For those who think this is a track orientated car, its been used as a daily run around since the conversion was done, drives as perfectly as a normal one would (when is hasn't got a rotary related problem)

I purchased this car about 8 months ago, I was planning to buy a dud-engined RX8 and do the conversion with a friend, whilst planning this I found one for sale on Ebay, so snapped it up as soon as I could. The reason for sale is I now have a new job with a company car so sadly don't have the space to keep both.

Started life as a Mazda RX8 231psi, then a SR20DET 200sx S14a engine was purchased once the Renesis engine had hot start issues. The work was all carried out by a retired Royal Air Force engineer around a year and a half ago.

You can tell just by looking into the wiring, and the modifications he has made that it has been done to a very high standard. Some of the welding is a work of art!

Engine:
Its currently running at 0.6bar, estimated 230BHP (never dyno'd) - obviously has heaps of potential as these engines are easy and cheap to modify. It has a Walbro 225 fuel pump upgrade. Also it has a Bailey dump valve. I have also just serviced the car, inc. fuel filter, oil filter, oil change, NGK Iridium spark plugs, replacement magnetic sump plug. The engine is on 8000 miles more than the car milage. Due to the air filter being in an area which doesn't get much of an air flow there is a 3" air intake whole in the bumper ( seen in photos )

Electronics:
Its running 2 ECU's one for engine management ( Nissan ) and one for the interior functions (Mazda) I have complete wiring schematics for this electrical genius work! The interior is as standard and everything functions fully (apart from a few warning lights that have been blocked over).

Chassis and Suspension:
Suspension wise, its all as standard. The sum frame has been modified to fit the engine, and re welded to fit. In regards to the tyres is has budget fronts :( plenty of tread and rear Pirelli P-Zero Rosso's (less than 1000miles on)

Interior:
Full heated leather interior. Electronic lumbar supported seats. Air conditioning has been removed, blowers work as usual. Boost Gauge in pod, wired up to light up when the dashboard lights start. Oil, Temp and Petrol gauge all work as normal.

7 MONTH MOT
2 MONTHS TAX (LOWER BAND TAX)

Bad Bits.
Alloys could all do with a refurb.
Slight fan belt squeak on cold start
Front bumper has a small crack and a stone chips.
Key fob doesn't seem to work (never bothered me()
Few age related dinks.

If you were looking to do this privately you would be looking to spend -

£1500-2000 on a Mazda RX8
£1200-1400 Fully customised Engine, box, loom, prop
£300-350 Custom made subframe & engine mounts
£100 Custom rad mounts, intercooler mounts
£70-90 Custom gearbox mount
£200-250 Custom made prop
£750-1000 in labour for fitting the engine
£400-450 for the wiring to be sorted out

Any more questions ( I'm sure there are plenty ) please text/call/email me - 07984244435

Located in West Sussex

£3550

NOW £3200 ono.

I would be interested in swaps for a Clio 197 or 182 for my misses as she isn't to keep in driving this daily - no clues why :/

Very cool, still toying with the idea of another rx8, sr20 just makes it that much more tempting.
Tell your misses she wants a Celica VVTL-i (190) not a Clio!

Mileage on car is 77,000 and mileage on the engine is 8,000 more than that.

No idea on the ECU location, the car has been used daily all through winter with no problems so it would seem fine.

will be in touch when my defender sells, very interested in this all the joys of the rex8 without the major drawback (my last one had the cursed hot start issue and this was an engine swap i looked into. wish i had done it now)

Looks ace. Do you have any more pics? inside and underneath? and any more of the full vehicle if poss.

cheers
