Moving to Suffolk. Few questions about my drift missile build.

I'm moving from Japan to Suffolk and had a few questions about the logistics of owning a drift missile. I don't plan on driving the car on the street, only at events. Is there a process for temporary plates? If not, what are flatbed truck or tow truck rental fee's like in the UK?

There aren't any 'temporary' plates as far as I know - the closest thing would be trade plates but I'm not sure whats involved in getting them, presumably you have to be a car trader.

Its been a few years since I got a car trailered, but I think you'll need to go through the process of getting a towing license in order to tow a car on a trailer unless it's really light.

Thats a great idea just fittign some plates..............

just get a decent tow car and trailer, as long as you have the correct liecense to drive it

Sounds like I may just be fitting some plates and taking my chances haha

It doesn't work like that over here, you need insurance, road tax and an MOT test. There are automated cameras everywhere and if you get pulled driving an un-insured missile on the road it will more than likely get crushed.

This. And Id wager he will be moving within 10 miles of Thetford ;)

Alternatively, what state is the car in? It's not all that difficult to get a car through an m.o.t here. Tax will be like £200 a year. Then as for insurance, it's also pretty easy to just get temporary cover for say, a weekend so you can take it to and from an event.
However, if it breaks or you crash it. You will be snookered!

Welcome to the forum buddy, lovely Hachi Roku too! :)

I forsee a shopping list for your moving here :P

Depending on what kind of state the missile is in, you're probably best having your vehicle MOT'd, temporary/lowest level insurance and tax your vehicle when you use it. Probably cheaper in the long run that constant transport.

Some venues offer on site storage too :)

yea ive been stocking up on spares and wheels for sure!

im back and forth with the idea but ill see what its like after i get there. Part of me just wants to save and go drift in japan once a year on vacation...

MOTs are piece of piss over here, will be easy to get that 86 through with a decent MOT tester, looks tidier than 99% of the cars on the road here.
