whats the best plan with wheel tyre choice, i run 17s on the street am i best going back to 14s for drift days, or 17s on front and 14s(or 13s) on rear?
are there any drift days an the north west?
whats best theory on suspension already got tien coilovers, is it the lower and stiffer the better? what about camber and toe? mx5s have adjustable camber and toe all round. advice much appreciated.

For drifting you need a soft front and a v stiff rear  Other than that it's all car specific. 17's will prob be too much for your power. Best go for the narrowest tyres you can but keep them close in size front-to-rear as it will help balance

cheers for that twinturbo, kinda sussed out that there aint enuogh power for 17s last nite, can get it to slide but seriously had to abuse the clutch, and when it did slide it was v snappy, think narrow tyres wud help me learn that way i could use the throttle more than the clutch :)

MX-5's are ace, i use Camac's finest 195/45/15's on the back of mine and Yoko's on the front, and the back comes round dead easy (easy enough to slide in 3rd from 30mph off the power round a corner, from crawling speed in second. All in the wet - hope that gives you an idea) i must get hold of some decent suspension and a diff for mine, but imay buy that driftworks car that will be for sale soon Hmmmm

greg and rob can u tell me a bit more about both of your cars and there modds.

should there be anything that i should look out for when buyin an mx.

I had one a couple of cars back, bought it standard with the intention of selling it on. I sold my AE86 so was "forced" to drive the MX5..lol. To say i was impressed was a understatment it handled like nothing i'd driven before, the only thing i could compare it to was the sort of feeling you get when your go-karting.
After a few weeks i came across a set of TEIN HA's and chucked them on with a couple of lower chassis braces and a strut top brace. Fook me the car was amazing i had so much fun it was unreal.
Again i then sourced a Tanabe Exhaust and chucked a HKS intake on it which helped it a bit. The biggest problem i had with the car was the lack of tourque to do anything dangerous in the car you had to attack stuff at high speed cos the wasn't enough power to keep things spining.
My suggestions are in no perticular order

1. Decent suspension + Lower chassis braces
2. LSD (if i had one i'd of probably still have the car now)
3. Power more the better turbo/supercharge readily availible
4. Cage cos i had a few scary moments where i though it was gonna go over!
5. Aero cos you gotta admit they look a bit :dermal:
6. Decent offset rims 14 or 15" but wide :D

Im at the stage again were im looking for another car and have narrowed it down to 2 choices a R32 GTS or another MX5 but a proper one cos i gotta admit even though everyone called me a puff i loved the car.

Ok I'm the poooof with the tarts car :D

Above post says it all really, U need SPEED in an MX5 to make up for lack of grunt, great handling cars otherwise. I've now Turbo'd mine & it's quite fun, though the offboost bit is really huge, so maybe a smaller than a T25 is needed.

Doddle to work on and generally bomproof, oh & get a cage in it as you'll need one sooner or later. Lots of imports have the goodies already on eg shocks, wheels, diffs, rollbars the lot. Just keep an eye out.

17's on an MX5

 What sort of 17's? Ditch them and buy a set of 14" Watanabes off me :) :) Also got a few other nice MX5 bits at my desposal.

I need a diff either a good one or a boggo one to weld up!

That could be arrange no probs. Do they differ from year to year? If so what year do you need? Will get a price for you on Monday. Still got an MX5 Hyperrev too!

Mine's a MK1 Eunos with a non-viscous diff now I've fried it with boost, think they are all the same if not similar. Let me know what you've got please. Welded is my weopon of choice :D

Get a 323 GTX/GTR engine in there  Mate was going to do it, but the MX5 as on that ship that sank :wack:

HAHAHA! We know Nick was not on a PC at 4pm! Reveal yourself whoever you are! Still funny though. He deserves it after last nights (probably) pissed postings on the NightSpirit thread

Must not let my missus read this post!!

Last time she attempted drifting her MX5, she ended up in the dyke!
