Bought my Zenki about 10 years ago. Drove it as a daily driver until 2017 when it developed a coolant leak I could not locate.
I got frustrated and fell out of love with it stored her away in the garage under a cover, until the beginning of this year. It was one boring day got day in Feb a friend of mine decided that it was about time it got fixed and thus started a journey of my Zenki.
So up in the air she went.
Yeap that's a R31 Skyline with an RB20DET engine and 180SX.
Found the leak in a few minutes. That kinda pissed me off as I had looked for ages. Anyway, it was coming from the water-feed banjo bolt to the turbo and evaporating as it hit the manifold
So out come bits
Fixed the leak by silver welding (I think) the banjo bolt.
Put it all back together took it for a test drive and could hear the manifold gasket flapping about so back in the garage and all the parts out again and replaced the gasket and the studs
Then we did an oil coolant (again) and spark plug change,
bled the brakes changed the fuel filter, and upgraded the fuel pump to a 255 Walbro.
Replaced the front wheel bearings (both sides)
Fitted Tomei rocker arm stoppers
Fitted new rocker cover gasket
Painted the rocker cover
Fitted a GKtech V2 catch can
Re trimmed the door cards and centre rest and fixed the hinge on it at the same time
Removed the EGR valve ( kinda fucked it taking it off anyway )
Fitted crystal glass lights and LED headlights
Changed the side repeaters to clear and swopped the side lights with the indicators
Fitted a Finex stealth FMIC and retained the factory fog lights and reflectors
Found a replacement front bumper for $50 got it sprayed and fitted that last weekend
Changed the broken Clarion sub for a Rockford Fosgate punch and tidied up the install bolting the sub box to a false floor I made from an old bit of chipboard I found laying around in hard rubbish
Fitted digital intake air temp gauge
Fitted some ridiculously large exhaust. Sounds pretty good I will admit
Cleaned MAF
Cleaned AAC
All my mated wanted for his time and the use of his garage and tools (about 2 weeks) was a slab of coopers pale ale. He did a lot of the work and I can't thank him enough I bought him a blank Nismo key like mine so he could get it cut for his 180
Things I had already done to the car.
Boosted to 12psi
Uprated atomic red coil packs
HSD Mono pro-Coil-overs
Flocked centre consol
Three gauge install Boost, Water temp, and voltage
ECU talk installed
Tinted windows
OEM Wheels painted white
Momo Metal gear knob
Alpine Head unit
Pioneer speakers all round in OEM housings
Front strut bar
HKS foam filter
Series 2 rear lights
Viper 2-way pager alarm with central locking and boot release hooked into car horn.
New Nissan radiator
Re gassed ad fixed the AC ( needed it yesterday it was 38 ) not even summer yet
Series 2 front vent
200SX light-up rear brake light
Nismo key cut.
Nismo socks to cover power steering and Master cylinder reservoirs
GKtech brake master cylinder stopper
Private plates
Colour matched the rocker cover to strut bar ends and fuse box lid
Engine damper
Front drilled and grooved rotors
Brembo brake pads front and rear
I'm sure there are loads of things I have done that I haven't mentioned and just completely forgot about. I wanted my modification to be clean and subtle. I think I've achieved that so far. I would like to change the seats out for Bride or Recaros and put a nice set of wheels on it. Then I will look at getting the ECU tuned and probably leave it there.
