My AE86 race car for sale

Simon Goes Sideways

NIGHTSPIRIT - 1st cousin!
Well, you might be surprised, I've only had the car for 2 weeks now I'm selling..........why? Something has come up for sale in Japan which is far too tempting....the this car has got to go.

Here is the spec from what I can tell................

A reg Toyota Corolla AE86
77600 miles on the clock
No history to speak of with the car (it has been a race car for the last 5 years) but the car does have 1 years MOT and Tax.

Engine:

Rebuilt/refreshed approx 2 years ago
Pipercross Airfilter
Custom exhaust which goes under (rather than over) the diff to allow low ride heights.
The ECU has been remapped (prob Superchips ICON)
Possibly has uprated camshafts (you feel the extra power from 5000rom onwards)
Electric fan with adjustable temperature start

Power is approx between 135 - 150bhp. It pulls really well and the engine has excellent oil pressure.

Chassis/Drivetrain:

Lowered stiffened springs all round (very low)
Uprated dampers
Standard LSD
14 inch Supra wheels with Yoko A539 195/60/14 tyres
Racing Paddle clutch

Interior:

Full 6 point roll cage including rear diagonal and door bars
Rear strut brace with mounting points for harnesses
Corbeau Pro Race drivers seat
OMP rally steering wheel
Sparco pedal covers
Fully plumbed in fire extinguisher which can be set off from the dashboard switch or the external one just under the windscreen
Ignition cut-off switch controlled from dashboard or outside car
Apart from the boot floor carpet, the rest of the full interior remains.

Bodywork:

The body was resprayed some years ago in a funky metallic blue. A proper job done including all the door shuts, inside bootlid and inside engine bay.

However, remember, this was a race car, last raced in the BRSCC Road Saloons last year. Its not mint, has a few scuffs here and there, BUT, it is in very good condition considering what it was used for.

There are about 4 small minor bits of rust and a dent just behind the drivers door about 2 inches long (where a marquee fell over onto the car)

Also, while I was removing all the race stickers and sponsor logos some of the top coat paint came away from the drivers door an area about 10 x 4 inches.

I've tried to be as honest as possible with this, I dont want anyone coming to see the car thinking its something its not.

The people that have seen the car go should be able to comment here, the handling is awesome, there isnt much that can stay with it through the twisties, it does drift as well, but will need skinner rear tyres to do it proper.

Here are a couple of pics you've seen before there will be more tomorrow.

you will all see before long.it is another 86 though.

BTW, anyone interested in this car and thinking the ride quality is bad looking at the ride height......dont worry, yes it is stiff but not nearly bad as you would imagine, and it doesnt scrape over speed humps
!!!!

I have just a couple of questions about it, i've wanted one for a while and i'm quite seriously tempted just to get a loan and buy it. Is it a UKDM one, and also is it hard to get insurance for given the fact its essentially a road legal rally car? Do you have any pics of the interior? Did you find it difficult to drift it on Sunday?

I do need to have a think about what i will do.

Thanks

Genjuro,

I saw your car on sunday and was gonna come and say hello but didnt get the chance sorry !

yes it is a UKDM car, I've got it insured with HIC on a classic car policy with EVERYTHING declared and they have no probs with it....£410 fully comp per year in north london and I'm 27.

I'll be taking interior and engine bay shots later this afternoon when I'm back from work.

It was hard to drift although I did pull off a couple of nice ones, mainly because I'm out of practice but also the tyres and handling setup are more for grip........I'm sure with a set of 175/60's on the rear it will drift much better.

AE86's are harder to drift than 200SX's and need lots of speed and commitment, but when you get it right, its much more satisfying !!!

Thanks for that. No worries about not coming over on Sunday, its a mad day with so many people being there and also trying to suss out the drifting. It was loads of fun though. That insurance sounds good, nearly half my S14 insurance, but i'd have to use it as my daily driver which might be challenging. Anyway i'll check the pics tonight, see if its possible for me to get the money and have a bit of a think, then i'll let you know if i want to have a look.

Thanks

The chap that was coming to see the car isnt coming now cos he wanted to use the AE86 as an everyday car...he's obviously not hardcore enough eh !! lol

Well i'm still thinking about it and would definatly like a look sunday. I've arranged for the money off a loan shark, but won't get it until next week though. :(

No worries dude,

I'll have the car on display on our Japukmeets stand at D1

You are welcome to have a look around the car etc etc and if you like we can talk more seriously.

I will have an advert in the car with my number on it so if you cant find me around call my phone and I'll meet you.
