Well what can i say! What a simply awesome event all round, even if i do say so my self!
Arrived on site at 5 on Friday evening after being at work since midnight the night before.
Started setting up the fencing with help from Ant and a few others.
Then on to the track which i had a copy of the layout even before we got there so i knew basically how it would look.
In the mean time James Bull arrived from a long journey with a tired looking Laura and started setting up the PA system.
FMX guys arrived and sorted them out.
After a lot of deliberation and driving round in my van we finally said bingo, the track is completed! That'll do nicely.
So then off to the hotel for a good nights sleep, well about 6 hours....
Back at the track for 6.30 to find out via a phone call the bottom gate was locked, got that sorted and headed straight to the office to set up signing on.
Then a quick chat with Matt re the location for scrutineering and hey presto all systems go.
Then a chance to have a chat with Jord and Mitch about clipping points and the track layout, a slight change was made to the layout and everyone was happy.
Drivers briefing, always a pleasure to see a large group of smiling faces first thing on a morning, to hear you all shouting 'slow down' and 'stop' when asked what the flag means made me feel all fuzzy inside lol
Practice under way and a few drivers were unable to work out where the track went so a quick parade lap in the Urgvan to show the way
Then rest of practice went without much incident, plenty of seat time for all, at the end of practice Vince Noott (who missed first practice due to missing the morning briefing ) had the track totally to himself, going round and round and round
Qualifying started after an extended lunch break and the first demo from the FMX guys.
Every driver seemed to be on it and the standard of driving was outstanding from all!
As soon as qualifying had finished is was a quick trip to the Maxxis truck to collect the score sheets from Debbie.
Once again a few different names in the top 8 and 16 places who would be heading to the finals.
To mention a few;
Miss Murphy, about time you got your finger out and drove that car like you can!!!
Rob Finn, epic performance, considering you've missed basically all the previous rounds
Jamie K - YEEEESSS! The SRMX5 stayed together for qualifying! Get in!
Pro Class
Paul Smith sneaking up and bagging 3rd place qualifying and a bonus point for the effort.
Martin Richards makes the top 16 - BOOM! About time too
David Waterworth making his return to the top 16, his first round battle would see him and Matt Carter battle together, something we haven't seen since back in the days of Teesside!
2 of the Superslide boys up there, Gav Cummings and Grant Laker, good to see you 2 in the finals!
The finals themselves - What can you say, superb driving all round!
The semi pro guy were all over each other!
Round 3 winner John had to work hard to beat Jordan Patton with an 8 -2 followed by a 3 - 7.
Andy Stroud span giving Ian Phillips not much to do in the 2nd battle and ran a safe 6-4 winner.
An on form Danni and Mike Cooper driving Alan Greens car like it should be driven were both knocked out in the first round with a 'Big fat zero' each
It was John's turn to make a mistake in the next battle and give a 10-0 advantage to Ian Phillips in the semi final. Ian sealed it with a 7-3 in the 2nd run.
Jamie K's good run came to earth with a bump and 2 'big fat zero's' but we'd see him on the podium collecting a hard charger award for his efforts.
The final would see Ian and Rob, who are good mates battle it out for top honours, with a 7-3 advantage on the first run Ian had the victory when Rob made it easy for him and span.
Ian now has the Semi Pro class wrapped up with a round to spare but the places in the top 8 are what the drivers are aiming for, this gives them a place in the Pro class for the 2011 season.
Its going to be SOOO close!

The Pro Class!
Blimey Charlie ! What a top 16 that was!
Straight from the start there were battles that need to be mentioned!
Gutted to see Martin Richards with car troubles, the all Japspeed battle with Shane and Danny, the first time i've seen these 2 not drift in their practice run, the tension was clear for all to see as the championship rivals knew they had a lot to loose. Shane took the advantage in both runs going through to the top 8.
Bon Bon vs Vince - Only Bon would try and overtake - On the OUT SIDE of the last corner - Epic!
Gav went well against Mark Luney only just missing out with a 6-4 5-5 score line.
Grant Laker - Legend! 1st time in the top16 (i think) boy did he make Paul Smith work for a place in the next round - 2 lots of OMT's until the judges could separate this pair! Fantastic to see!
Ashley Stevens - Hadn't had a good day up to that point, gearbox blew, borrowed one from Danni Murphy, just got the car running in time for the finals to go up against Phil. For the first time he had bought some Maxxis tryes for the final, never having used these tyres and then to go out and drive like he did deserves a mention. Both runs the drivers matched each other perfectly, 5-5 5-5 - At this point Ashley team Scream mates were about to explode! (as for his mum - well) Then Phil seemed to shift up a gear with a 7-3 and 10-0 on the second battle. It didn't matter to Ashley, he is one happy bunny!
Great 8
Simon progressed through to the semi's after taking it to the wire 7-3 against him to pull back a 8-2 in his favour in the second battle.
Matt Carter driving Danni's car went through to the semi's after Bon's car failed to start when pitting for tyres - Fuel pump issues by all accounts.
Mark and Paul ran a OMT before Mark took the win with 6-4 6-4 in the second.
The power and torque of the DW S15 couldn't be matched by Declan in the MK 2 Escort, but it didn't stop him from trying - His foot to the floor 'NO LIFT' style getting the crowd applauding every run!
Semi's
Matt Carter gave Simon an easy run to the final after a 10-0 in the second run.
Mark didn't have it quite so easy, the former and current EDC champs were at it hard! Neither would give and inch with both first runs being judged a 5-5 5-5.
The next run was again a 5-5, but the 4th gave Mark a small advantage with a 6-4, this was enough to confirm we had a Perry - Luney Final.
First off we had to get a 3rd place finisher, Matt Vs Phil.
By this time Phil was clearly concerned over the rising temps in the engine bay of the S15 driving round in circles at any opportunity to cool the 2JZ.
This may have been on his mind but either way Matt took a 7-3 advantage on the 1st battle which Phil failed to pull back and a 6-4 to Phil confirmed Matt took 3rd place.
The final
Mark Vs Simon
What a fantastic display of driving! The trust between these drivers was fantastic! Both giving everything and pushing as hard as they could to push each other to the max!
The first round of battles were SOOO close the judges simply could not split them 5-5 5-5!
Mark was now getting worried about the temp of the 2JZ and a quick cool down lap before what would be the last runs of the day.
This time Mark pushed for all his was worth and during the second battle Simon made an error causing him to straighten for a split second, the judges spotted this and the rest as they say is history.
Mark Luney took his first victory in the BDC and his first while driving the SATS Toyota Supra.
A fantastic day of drifting which had everything you could want!
A massive shout must go out to everyone who made the event SO awesome, without each and everyone of you it wouldn't be possible - Thank you x
To finish off we then had to dismantle the track/fencing and leave the place how we found it. I left the track at 10.15pm after putting the skips out for the Sunday market.
Only now have i had time to catch my breath and get relax a little.
So next stop - Norfolk arena - Putting the fun back in it - Hell yeah
