My first S13

Ok so used to have a mk1 mx5 and drifted it regularly and maintained it very regularly. After feeling completely used to the Mx5 I thought it was time to get something with more power as 114bhp just wasn't cutting it for me :wack: anyway! Here's the car, not quite completed the thread because I spent most of the past few months trying to find the right S13 for me.

So right now the Mx5 is sitting in my grans driveway off the road because I couldn't temp. Insure it on my policy and had to swap the insurance over to the S13.

As it stands there are no modifications to the body except for the matt black finish (not the best but its growing on me). The engine is at stage 2 - 250.6BHP with the power chart to prove it. Not entirely sure on what has been done as the guy before me didn't know either and is currently trying to find out from his previous owner. Got the car from Devon and being from Edinburgh it was quite a trip! :( luckily the guy was kind enough to meet me at Exeter airport. 130 miles into the drive home and this happened...

went to change into forth gear and my clutch pedal hit the floor :( got taken to a service station and after almost 3 hours of waiting for the AA to send out an engineer I decided to drive the other 320miles without my clutch :wack:  8 hour drive home and other than the clutch the car was faultless! Now that's its been home the clutch has been fixed and it was just a valve the wasn't as tight as it could be and was leaking slightly so tightened it up and bled the clutch. Sorted!
Not huge on cash at the moment so progress is gonna be slow but since getting it home a few days ago I've bought a T25 with half the miles on it because mine is smoking slightly on idle and smelling a little on boost of oil. Also the turbo is jumpy when I plant my foot instead of easing it on its like a misfire but only on boost, anybody any ideas if you've took the time to read this?
plan for it though are:
-front and rear anti roll bars (advised in MOT)
-17" wheels to fill the huge arch gap! Could sleep in there! :(
-HSD coilovers
- get another remap once the other T25 is in
- service and clean up the engine bay as its a bit grimey
any thoughts on what I should do or change is welcome :dw: not a noob with cars can do most things just have no clue when it comes to turbo's

So, I was taking the car out for a night time drive. Just to make sure everything was ok before going up to Crail with the 13. Parked up at tesco to get a drink, went back out to start it  starter motor has packed in. must have been from all the 'in gear' starts I did coming home from Exeter
Already posted a thread in the wanted section but anybody reading this who has a starter motor feel free to let me know ££ :dw:

welcome to s13 ownership ll

you did well driving it home but i think you have killed the starter

you have same tubby problem i do. this is my 7th s13 and first t25 lol

New problem already.. Car wouldn't start yesterday. Had my mate down to have a look at the car with me and turns out the starter isn't knackered (what I originally thought) its just lost the bolts holding it in place. Obviously a sh*t fitting from when the clutch was changed so basically what I'm looking to know.. What are the bolt sizes and how many bolts do I need to put my starter back into place?
Cheers for any help

There's two bolts, both I think 3 ish inches long with a thread that screws into the bell housing. I don't know the thread details though, at a guess it'll be an M8/M10 bolt with a metric thread. One of mine threaded when putting it back on so I'll be replacing it with a longer bolt and a nut on the end

Thanks alot mate. I ended up phoning an eBay company about the bolts, they couldn't tell me length so jut bought M10 55mm.. WAYYY too short haha, now have 88mm and that's even too short to get a nut on. Thought it would be fine but the starter has wiggled free again so car is out of action till tomorrow again :( least I'll know the right length this time haha

Update: so today I went to fix my starter problem (fixed it for a time frame of a few hours  )

Terrible picture I know :( but I stumbled across something the previous owner never mentioned. When the wheel was off.. I thought I'd test fit the steelies I got only too find my wheel wouldn't fit over because its had what seem to be R33 callipers on it  so happy days for me!! Explains why the standard handbrake it so awesome and why I can stop so well :wack: never got a picture unfortunately 'cause my phone died whilst out at the car :(

Decent brake upgrade that, I'll be looking into doing the same when I can, glad you got the started fixed. What size bolt did you end up getting?

Well in the end I kept the 88mm on and but really needing a longer bolt to get the nut on so it doesn't wiggle free :( really need something like 100mm long.

Well.. Fixed my starter again today. Really need bigger bolts or 'lock tight' but this is the uprated callipers I happily stumbled across, thinkin their S14?? Any corrections on that? (P.s. I still have standard shocks and springs  feels like driving a boat compared to my Mx5)

If its stage 2, shouldn't it be on a T28?

Not got a clue, and admittedly I never looked it up. I saw that it had a T25 as standard and presumed it would still have it since the turbo was on its way out and looks pretty new-ish. Maybe was too much compression flowing through and ended up knackering the oil seal? But again I'm not sure :(

Went and bought some presents for the car last night :D went through to Glasgow to see d6yme off of :dw: gave me a great deal on all round uprated springs and shocks (also threw in 2 knackered shocks to get the top mounts), 4 standard wheels all with tyres, subframe locking collars and a practically new boss kit all for the total of £85  can't complain! Just need to wait for the weekend for when I can get everything on then its Crail on Sunday for the first time with the S13. May get the girlfriend to drive the Mx5 up and let her learn :wack:

Pic friendly update.. That's the uprated springs and shocks on the car now. Wanted it done before Crail so got it done today in the pouring rain  well at least its done! really needing an exhaust that will sit higher under the car. Current one only has about a 4cm clearance and the car isn't even that low looking. Maybe once the car has bigger wheels it won't be so bad :) but anyway.. Pictures!

... Ignore the rear wheels.. Needed new tyres on :wack: :smokin:
