Fixin`Repairin
Hey people!

I haven't been here for a long time, as i just had some other stuff to do, and now it's time to share. Some of you might have noticed on facebook that i had a volvo 242 rusting away in the car park, and now that i have moved house, i managed to acquire a garage, and finally stuffed the 242 into a dry safe space so i can start doing some stuff to it.

It does need alot of work, especially rust removal and body strenghtening but i think it's allworth it as the idea i got in my mind is kinda interesting.

Here's some pics from when i first got it and now. after a year of sitting in the car park with no use and being rained on... I know, i should have done it earlyer, but i had no such chance.

Will try to keep it all updated as i do stuff to it.

Cheers

Cheers guys! I'll need to upload some more pics as when the Photobucket went tits up all i had was gone lol... We'll work on that :)

So far i've acquired a few parts...

EVO8 Calipers, which were a complete steal of ebay as i paid £250 delivered...

Gaz shocks made me some coilovers aswell...

Then i went and got myself a 16v cylinder head off a 1990 volvo 740, so i can run 450 wheel at some point... We shall see.

I want to swap the rear solid axle to a toyota supra independed rear, and add some more things here and there... Completely derust the shell, strenghten it all etc, replace the sound deadening, all the carpets, full interior, so it's nice and quiet, plus get rid of all the rattles and so on... The list goes on and on, so we'll see whenever we come to it all.

Cheers

Hey all!!

Here's an update!

I managed to go to the garage one day to remove the calipers as i needed to move the car in and out as the brakes were completely seized, and i was struggling to move the 242. So i just unbolted the calipers and cut the brake lines as i will be redoing the whole setup from scratch when the time comes. checked the underside a bit, and was surprised as i was expecting to see it in a way worse situation regarding rust....

Cheers for looking and to be continued at sme point in the very near future!

Haha, nice dude keep us updated.

Got some random redblock stuff kicking about, if your looking for something there's a chance I might have it.

Nah very few do tbh. Just sounds cool, looks a cunt of a job.

You building an engine? What power you aiming for?

I have got a b230fk block with around 130k miles on an automatic transmission, so it's never been ragged and ran around 8psi lol, so well, i think it was a good swap as i swapped it for a g80 diff that i had laying around lol. Aswell as that i have got a 16v head taht i will swap some ford v8 16v springs in from the good ole USA, and, off course, use proper h-beams and pistons from Yoshifab, as i am in a good friendship with him.

I have got a goal of 450 wheel horse. Yeah, if properly tuned it should be scary haha. Water injection etc, Home made manifolds, Proper management etc.

Time will tell, but that's the whole idea... Well, not the whole, but you get the point :)

Adam

That sounds like a good deal, although I'm sure g80's do fetch good money.
I plan to do a similar bottom end eventually but keep the 8v head with some porting.
I use an ecu master emu on mine, works great and half the cost of the alternatives.
Can you get cheap-er rod's then?

Well, the rods are not the expensive part as they are all made in china nad usually from the same supplier. The g80's go for around 50-80 quid mark, so i think it was a good swap.
I do not know what will be the ECU as it's far far away from it lol...

Where did you get a 2 door from? Import it yourself?

I regret selling my 240. Good luck with build.

I'd go with megasquirt if I were you.

That's interesting about the rods as I have read that before. So ebay rods are the same as Yoshi and klr?

50-80? Adom you're a 3-4 years off with your valuations. They are worth double to triple that now. I sold my G80 over a year ago on eBay for £180 and it had been sat in a box for 3 years.

I got it for £50 so i let it go for the same as i knew it would be put to good use, so you know, no harm done...

Hey!

I have imported it from Europe a couple years ago. Cheers bud, yeah, that's one of the plans, but we will see as there are quite a few nice ECU's these days for similar money.

Cheers
