After owning a BMW 325i i thought what shall i get next,
I wanted to go old skool with a MK2 escort but its top £££
So i bought a vauxhall chevette from a pall of mine.

It comes with a 2.1 pinto with a set of twin 48 weber carbs
I had it RR tuned and it gave out 165bhp :D , its of the road for the winter as
i want to do some work on it, so it should be back on the road around april 2006 :D

To do list

coilovers on the rear
facet red top fuel pump
Bat in the boot
Door bars & diagnal bars to be fitted to the cage
fit my spaco rev seats
Sabelt 4 point harness,s
paint the inside of the car
run fuel line/break lines through the car
fit a new rev counter & rev limiter
get some welding done to the drivers side floor
superlite 7x13 alloys to make it look pimp
Poly windows sides and rear
break bias pedal box
Wilwood 4 pot calipers

Well this lot will keep me busy for a while, as for pics i dont no how to host them

not that much at all. about a fraction of the price of an escort, and out the bag are a much better designed car with regards to suspension setup.

btw nice fuckin car darryl

Hang on a mo!? Did someone else on here own that before!
As i know this was for sale in Retro cars mag a while back and someone on here posted ages ago that they bought it!

Proper pimp and from what i can remember it was cheap as chips in retro cars as i almost bought it myself!

Shame to use if for drift! That belongs on track or the strip! :D

Oh and nick, wash your mouth out son! Nothing can beat escort suspension set up! Mcpherson front struts and a english rear axle with telescopic shockers! And then the RS models were fitted with tramp bars!
In std form old school fords rule in engine and suspension! I think you will find people will fit ford running gear and suspension on that old vauxhall machinery!

I spoke to a pal of mine who runs escort MK2s in rally stages around the UK and he quotes, Back in the days nothing could touch the chevette on tarmac not even his full race preped MK2 .

Yes this is the car that was in retro and my pal bought it for a £1000, and went on to spend £££££££ more, its got brand new spax adj shocks 4 branch manifold twin 48 webers gas flowed head with a Kent HT1 cam,
I bought it for a bit more than a £1000 but i am well happy with it,

Will i be drifting it well we will wait and see, i do feel its a shame not to drift it
as i think it would be nice for some UK old skool to be out there

no booby, people fit ford suspension cos its cheap and plentiful, the escort stuff wasnt exactly state of the art at the time, the chevette rear end is better. even the rally drivers said that it was the technically better car for driving.

Thats sweet.

I remember being driven around by my uncle in one of those when I was a nipper. Should go really well with that much poke under the bonnet.

Just out of interest, how much do these fetch?

a chick i know was selling a proper minter, 3 door hatch 1.3 i think and only 43k , every mot and full service history, think she only wanted 350 or something... hmmmm i wonder if she still has it

Hi guys i posted on here ages ago and have been lurking since, ive got a chevette too but mines a hatch. Looking forward to seeing one involved in drifting! have you got any pics other than your sig?

Ok ok, they may have had better located rear axle with coil springs, and double wishbone front suspension, but you never saw the HS/HSR beat the old escorts did ya! haha :p

Jimmy McRae had a few good sessions in them, but not the the extent of the Fords! LONG LIVE CLASSIC FORDS! hahaha :D

But your Shove-it darryl is pimp as fook! :D Good to see a change to the norm!

no the hs/hsr were never as successful as the escorts, i remeber reading russel brookes and jimmy mcrae saying in a article the chevette was the better car to drive but the escort had way more development/test time and was just much more competive.

still i love chevettes, cost fuck all compared to the equivalent escort.
