here's the thread if you want a read https://www.driftworks.com/forum/threads/buying-from-japwestmod-caution.269503/
From what I've been reading it comes off like a ponzi scheme. For bigger or custom orders he's just using the next customers money to pay for/refund the last guy or just dragging it out till he finds a car for dirt cheap that matches what he promised feels a bit like bait and switch.
The only reason I think he's still around is probably down to the websites SEO. It comes up near the top for a lot of searches for me at least. And it doesn't hurt to have popular YT influencers plug him now and again.
I hate to say it but from what I've seen others post court seems to suddenly motivate them. So maybe it's time to look down that path if it's been 3 months and it's not even on a boat yet.
When you do get your money back I'd recommend Torque GT. I got the exact thing your after with a similar budget (slightly more). I used them and it was easy. I even got to dig around the auctions and find the car I wanted with images from the auction with the sheet and everything. From putting down my deposit to finding the car was about 2 weeks (I was very picky) Then once I had won it was right onto the boat. Took about 3 months to leave japan, come to the UK and get registered etc. They also split the payments even though I offered to pay it all at once. 500 upfront at the time, 6k when I won and the rest just before collection. I don't think I'd even look at anyone else now.
Thats just UK Drifting. Its not just Japwest mods(even though they are by far one of the worst), quite a lot of shady companies/people getting support they don't deserve. The fact that Japwest mods still gets support from "well known" people in the drift scene is laughable, they should be ashamed of themselves.
