n42b18 Swap for?..

Hi guys, I am new here and i hope i can get some help and advice from this forum...

I am currenly thinking about buying a bmw e46 316I Sedan (1.8 engine) and my question is...

For what engine can i swap the n42b18 so there is not too much problems with the actual swap..?

I am Looking for at least 2.5L engine because my main goal is to get this thing drifting.. ! ! ! the car is really cheap it will cost me about 400euro (from 650 after some after negotiation) everything is fine went to the mechanic with it and its actually good, hope you guys can help me ^_^ !

I'm sure someone with more experience with it will chime in but I'm pretty sure you need the M54Bxx engines for the E46, in terms of wiring simplicity etc.
A crashed 330 Ci seems to be the go to donor (lots get crashed...)

I'd fit an e36/e34 m50 stronger and simple compared to the modern pish.
