Hi guys

I want learn how to drift 1st port of call will be a cheap car, mx5 was the 1st car on my wish list but being 6ft3 and large I struggle to find the pedals and my knees are banging the steering wheel .
Are there any tall lads running mx5's ?
What mods have you done to make some room?
Or should I just be looking at a BM

I'm 6 foot and fit in my mx5. just re mounted the seats and using a quick release steering wheel hub so as to move the steering wheel up about 2 inches. With the wheel removed it also easier to get in and out of the car

I'm just about 6' and manage ok. One thing that helped is a "Foamectomy" on the seats (opening them up and trimming some of the foam). It made the seat a lot more supportive and gets me a tiny bit lower. I can't fit a bucket as my wife needs to be able to drive it now & again.
The floor has a hump in it and some people cut this out (or bash it flat), then mount a bucket seat directly to the floor.

im 6ft 3 and just got a first mx5. I bought standard mk2 seats that went back a tad further than the odd leather 'JDM' buckets some noob had put in it. I can drive it but have to pull over if i need to put the window down lol. Snug fit is always good anyway

Yeah I've heard taking the foam out of the original seats help like. I'm 6' and I fit in fine with seat back most of the way. I have aftermarket seats like so that must help a bit :)

I'm 6'4", don't have an mx but have drove one. I found getting in and out the hardest part but once in theirs a surprising amount of room!

I'm 5"10 and my seats right back haha. But most comfortable position for me , I was surprised but their is actually good leg room once u in , problem is u kind of have to fall out :) lol

I fit better in a MK1 with the hard top than I do with the soft top closed and I'm 6'3

A bit of rake on the seat or as far back as possible.
Depends if you're longer in the leg than body.

i find it more comfortable if i put the chair about 2-3 clicks away from the end thenlean the back all the way :) but id say im longer in the legs

I had the same problem with my rx7 i'm 6'3" as well, just couldn't get the standard seat to suit ended up going to a bucket seat. Funnily it wasn't the leg room it was the height that made it awkward for me. I have driven a few mk1 mx-5's and found the position really uncomfortable but they are such a fun car.
