Need a gear between 2nd and 3rd. Diff ratio?

Was on a drift day at Pod yesterday.

When on the track I found that on the long bends I was maxing out in 2nd gear but then after shift into 3rd just not quite having enough poke to carry on.

I currently have a 3.15 lsd medium case with 4 clutch upgrade. Locks up really nice.

Been trying to work out whether I need to go up or down diff ratio to all me to get I to 3rd and keep in the power band.

Cars e36 323 supercharged. Mapped to 270bhp about 405nm @ ~3000revs

You think going g for a slightly bigger tyre would make that much difference?

Was looking at the possibility of changing the ring and pinion
 
Bigger would let you use second, smaller but wider would let you grab third and still be grippy.
What size are you using now?

3.73 would probably be what you want. Would let you use third all the time and fourth on faster tracks.

Very much personal preference, car should have enough power for third maybe needs more abuse. Or more grip allowing you to carry more speed and go faster.
 
I'm on 16s with 205 55 16s on at the moment.

Would prefer being in 3rd and lower in the revs most of the time as that's where most of the tpurque is.

So maybe I'll have a looks at a 3.73 ratio or similar
