Hi all, I'm new to drifting and Driftworks and I have a few questions about getting started. I want to start a build eventually but I want to understand how it all works and how you get into drifting. I want to drift legally so 1) is there beginner drift days and how do you get into them 2) is there a ladder to work your way up and if you are good enough get into drifting competitions 3) I am 16, would drifting be the best way to get into racing or Spec Miata is another way I was considering getting into it. I'd rather start in drifting because it seems like it is more fun than SM racing.
I already have a jeep as a DD so the drift car or track car will be track only but street legal would be nice so I don't have to tow it to the track.
Would a Miata be a good starter drift car. I was leaning more towards a 3 series like a 325i e36.

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

Christian

Go to: Drift Practice Days

For most of drift days available, check which is closest to you, read the rules for that venue.
Basic:
Drift car
Driving licence
Cash for entry

Some places have helmets to rent if you don't have one.

Some track/ drift days are better suited for learning. Best to drive and see by yourself for 1 day as spectator.

E36 will be easier to drift but miata will work to.

Attend to couple drift days and then start thinking about going pro. Ask more experience drivers for advice, drifters are usually a friendly and helpful bunch.
