New to drifting, need help please!

Hi, I'm not sure if this is where this goes but I need experienced people's opinions on what's a good beginner car for drifting and what's not. I've wanted to do drifting and racing for a while now, but this is the first year that I am able to. So the question is, what's a good first drift car? Right now I'm thinking of possibly an old C5 or maybe jumping to a S13 240sx. Not sure though, they both have their ups and downs. In the end, I'm hoping to find a cheapish car that I can mess with without it dying or completely crumbling because of stupid mistakes (if that makes sense.) So yeah, any inputs would be helpful. I'm hoping to stick to pop up headlights because I think they're sweet, but if there are any other good beginner cars that would work, that would also be appreciated. Thanks!

All comes down to budget really. Best entry level cars always seem to be MX5's or E36/46 BMW's. 350z's seem to be a good, cheapish platform currently too.

We don't see any C5's here in the UK, so no idea how they fair up as reliable drift cars, but the likes of FDF seem to offer a lot of parts for them, so good aftermarket support as you learn and progress, if you had the budget for one.

Either way, whatever you buy, make sure its mechanically OK and get it serviced. Keep the modifications basic. Welded Diff or LSD, Bucket seat, Harness and upgrade the car as you progress. Spend your money on tyres, fuel and seat time.

Dont make the common newbie mistake of overbuilding the car before you do any driving (I am especially guilty of this)

As someone once told me, the cheapest thing to tune up is your own driving ability. Modifications will only mask bad driving habits

In Texas we see more 350z, BMWs e36/e46 and 240s. In the The 350z and BMWs are cheapest and most reliable here. I am about to flip a coin on the 350z or the BMWs.
