Hi im buying a s14a in a week or so and will be building from ground up. But im new to nissans and and been reading on hear alot. Is there any stupid little things on these cars that have to be modified i have read sumwhere about rasing or lowering the subframe nt quite sure witch anyone shed abit of light on this

Front bearings are a sealed unit with the hub so can be expensive if they need replacing.

Watch out for the main loom running above the front right wheel if you take out the plastic inner guards.

Factory LSD's are shithouse, or will become shithouse very quickly. Run a locker

Factory lock isn't as good as BMW's, so grab some knuckles or just add rack spacers and cut the lock stops off / grind the bump on the knuckles down

Other than what dude highlighted and generic rust prone areas need to watch out for ignition amp getting warm fuel pump fucking up turbo seals going worth investing in rocker arm stoppers gearbox may wine like a supercharger but wouldnt worry until it starts clunking oh and check clutch delay valve is out or when clutch kicking you'll basically be kicking a pillow

Rocker arm stoppers are a contentious one.

The reason you see so many for sale secondhand is people never fit them as they aren't needed. Just a gimmicky thing to buy, especially when running less than 380-400hp

You might raise the rear subframe if you're low. You can only do it with solid bushes and essentially not have it sit flush against the chassis. It's to help correct roll centre.

I wouldn't worry about anything like that to start off with. Keep it simple and just drive it. I (and many others) decided to go OTT and do mad shit to it and I haven't driven my car since May and it's highly unlikely I'll be driving it before this time next year either!
