Morning all

I am looking to buy a cheap drift car <£1000/£1500 and start to learn.

Can anyone recommend a good drift car for a beginner and in this price range?

Thanks

Dan

Personally went for a import mx5. Didn't want enough power to do any real damage before I got a bit more confident :)

These are the most common cars with the biggest aftermarket product. If you have any better options, list them instead of not giving any information. This forum is terrible. Most posts are opinionated, I looked and researched a majority of cars. All of the ones I posted there are under 4,000 USD and that's a good entry level. So if you have any actual information other than having a high post count on a website, share it.

Well your research means nothing over here.

IS200
Soarer
Volvo's of various ages
Skyline's
RX7

and COUNTLESS other cars.

LOL RX7, IS200 and SKYLINES are not affordable first time cars. Volvo's in good shape are harder to find than the Mercedes 190e 2.6. The Soarer is above entry level pricing by about 1-2k USD. Nothing you listed is a valid option for someone on a budget.

Over here it is you can get skylines for under 3k, soarers for under 2k, is200s I bought one for 500 quid. there are 2 volvos for sale near me for under 800 quid each. RX7s granted its been a while since I priced them but these are all off the top of my head I didn't need to spend ages " researching" like you apparently did.

Skylines go for a premium. If you're talking shells, then that is a completely different argument. The Lexus goes for around 4200 in fair condition most places. If you're talking 98-00 models. Otherwise they are more expensive and beyond the reach of your new drifter. I've spent time researching the available cars with the biggest aftermarkets. You're listing cars that must not be in good condition, are shells. The soarers from 96 are going for around 6 grand in good condition and the early 90's GT models are going from 5-6k in good condition. Again, above the price range for starter cars.

The prices are pretty close world wide, if they aren't then it's the market. I made a thread listing cars within a price range that are a good starting point. You, have provided nothing.

Ebay motors are reliable and never have any issues. Purchasing online without giving it a proper inspection is always the right way to go about buying cars. Ebay is an accurate reflection of the retail market and should be used as a source in every country around the globe.

Again, market matters. Using Ebay, is fucking retarded.

Wow just wow is right. I'm not even going to say it's impossible to get good deals on those cars. But they are few and far between in my research to actually be a good value. Different experiences = someone is 100% wrong. Instead of being cordial and intelligent, you've just insulted me, used ebay, and still haven't looked around besides just the UK. You assume all listed prices and pictures are a reflection of the cars actual performance and upkeep. Mileage, exterior, interior, frame, engine, transmission, tires, everything go into the value of a car. You shouldn't be buying anything that is damaged for a starter car. It's just more money to sink into it. Even if I give you the soarer (which would be a tough find for an early 90's model to be in good condition) you would still act like a child saying no.

How and where did your "research" occur ?

You have provided NO PROOF, I did ;)

And interior, tyres and exterior almost always have no bearing on a drift cars as most get banged anyway, the interior gets ripped out and cages fitted and the tyres get shredded during the drifting.

and why would I look outside the UK ?
99% of the people on here are from the UK, the things you have provided are from the US which would have virtually no bearing on the OP.

Your just another kid pretending to know what he is talking about after spending a couple of hours watching yourtube and thinking you know whats what.

You're arguing against my picks, therefore you need to provide your argument with a valid source or substance that has been proven over the course of time. Ebay is a fluctuating market that's fickle and doesn't reflect all aspects in which you should be aware of when buying a car.

Interior and tires and exterior do have bearing on drift cars. Because you aren't buying a car ready to drift. Starter cars in my opinion, should be cheap daily drivers that you don't plan on abusing until later. Get a feel for driving a car normally, then move on later.

It was a general thread. I'm sorry that not everyone is looking at the UK so I didn't focus on the UK. I've seen people post from Portugal, Spain, German, Netherlands etc.

Another attack/baseless accusation. The only youtube videos I have watched on these cars are reviews from different time periods to see how they stack up over time with their contemporaries. Even then, I used other forums and publications for those cars to get a reading on the user base and the issues they had with their automobiles. All of the cars I listed were trusted and recommended in general, not just in drift. They all had their pros and cons. I felt the ones I listed came ahead of the others. I listed common issues with the vehicles.

Edit: If you wanted to add cars to the list, than just add them without being a condescending prick.

my first was a skyline R32 GTST but a lot of my friends did well in E36 BMW's that and they are very cheap nowadays and almost disposable
