Hey!
My name's Alex, I'm 20, and I'm a driftaholic..
I've been a lurker on these forums for a while, but mainly just oggling the for sale threads. A bout of insomnia and nothing to do at 06:10 had me sign up. Blame the insomnia!
I live near Hull, but am currently in Lampeter for university.
My current daily drive is my legs.. Until about a month ago, I drove a '77 Reliant Scimitar, but unfortunately, it decided it didn't like having a rear axle, as the nearside location bar rotted through and sent me all over the road.
Unfortunately, I bought this off my dad as my second car. I grew up with it. I was almost born in it, I was taken to school in it every day until secondary school and I was taken to my first job in it. All this adds up to a lot of sentimental value, and I find it impossible to bring myself to put it sideways except when leaving clear junctions. It handles surprisingly well when sideways admittedly, but I just can't risk anything with a fibreglass body. Cue the next car!
I decided I love things that go rusty, so I added a Nissan 200SX S13 to my collection earlier this year. Partly because it's been my dream car for so many years, partly because it was my brothers and he needed the money, and partly because I'm a blithering idiot with a need to go sideways in ways that only the people of this forum will ever understand.
When I bought it, it had been sat for 5 years. My brother had welded the sills to a decent standard before it went off the road, so the sills are still solid enough. The boot is, of course, rotten, and the strut tops are getting that way, but it should pass MOT.
With a little help from the SXOC forums, I quickly found out the engine was still great, and the only thing that had been stopping me starting it was the dead battery in the key fob.
I'm hoping that all I've got left to do to it now is to replace the missing engine hoses and the cracked windshield, fit the new headlamp and I should be able to get it MOTd. Next job, figuring out what all the missing hoses are! (I'm sure I'll start a thread about this later)
I'd like to add quickly, the car looks a lot worse than it is. The buildup of crap has served to make it look awful, and most of these pictures are pre-clean. It's far from presentable, though.
With a little elbow grease to remove a bit of the green, a battery stolen from my long-gone Pug 106 and a lot of hoping...
