Morning all,

I am 31 years old and from a sleepy little town on the edge of the hills near the Boro, approx. 10 miles from teeside track. I went with my lad to the NYE day and was well and truly bitten by the side ways bug, there were some great people there and have spoke to some via facebook.

I am wanting a toy, a start off, a cool car, I am allowed a small budget from the family saving (the wife has the purse strings and with 3 kids she has a tight grip).

Am I after the impossible? small budget circa 1000 - 1500 looks cool, sides fun (once schooled) and used for taking the wife out, lads road trips, going to the 'ring' this year and Goodwood festival of speed santa pod ect ect..... my budget is from selling a 4x4 used at pay and play sites, I have also in my time done hill climb and varies motor specific hobbies.

I was looking at a 190e Slammed with big rims, (cool as fuck) but will a mega low ride with big rims be ok to drift? or is there a compromise? I assume manual is better than auto.

I am fortunate that I have a company car and she has a family 7 seater. so it will not be a daily but will be used..

My first thoughts were.

190e
omega
MX5 but i am 6 foot 5
MGf ........ (please don't point and laugh)

My best friend is the best technician and welder I have come across to date so he can do stuff, my hands are are soft and delicate as I work in an office........

Toys i have once owned
190e 1.8 petrol
Spit screen vw
beetles
VW fast back
1964 buick
Fourtrak (offroader)
land rover (offroader)
pug 106 gti (hill climb)
saxo Vtr

Thank you for reading this post.
