Hi all. My name is Marc and I live in Derby.
I have an E39 M5 that I would like to start sliding just for a bit of fun but I also want to keep it standard so it can be used as a DD.
I've sort of been involved in drifting to a small degree previously at Buxton as I was already a (banger) racer and a member of the track staff and I assisted on a couple of Johns drift days at the very beginning but looking through the forums things seem to have progressed since I was last there.
I've heard M5's aren't the easiest to drift due to the large amounts of grip at the rear but I'm sure this can be overcome with bravery and crap tyres.
Anyways, this is me, comments welcome...................

Welcome Marc, interesting choice of drift car, I've always fancied an m5 but been put off by the running costs as a daily

Thanks. The M5 is one of my bucket list cars so I had to have it. It was a DD up until a few months ago but as mentioned running costs are high and that's not because of the 18 mpg average :O but I saw sense and bought a VW TDi as my DD and use the M5 as a weekend car.
Drifting wasn't part of the ownership plan but it's RWD, 400 BHP NA and has an LSD so I should have a bit of fun with it.
Plan is to fit the skinniest tyres that will go on a 16" rim (an idea stolen from Chris Harris after he abused a C63 on spacesavers lol http://youtu.be/HPh90yNX-mY ) which should help its slideability. Thanks for the welcome :)
