I can get hold of either Nismo GT ,Tomei or CUSCO MZ in 2 way.

Which one is the one to go for my CA18DET?

Al.

they're all good, so just pick a name really

UNLESS you have an open diff atm, then go for the nismo so you don't need to find the right shafts. MZ is the most aggresive out of the 3, Tomei medium and the nismo the most pleasant/quietest

The car is not used for the road, so 'pleasantness' is not an issue. Especially when you got a Bee-R zorst drumming into the stripped out interior! :)

I want something that will perform the best in the long run, but the NISMO is so tempting due to the ease of fit....

So pleasantness aside, which is the best performer?

Al.

To my knowledge I've not driven a tomei, personally I'd go for the MZ.

I like it when they are a bit wild.

I like agressive diff too :D

MiG spec diffs are the pimp daddy of drifting. Seeing as it's a CA and will go pop before you've bedded the diff in you may as well stick to MiG

how hard is fitting a new lsd into my s13 ?
guys here in germany say that it is very hard to fit a new lsd,
get a complete one from the s14.

so i ask u guys, how hard is it to fix a new one!
i´m good at mechanic things ,but if i should need special tools ,it would be hard for me?

thx a lot

Fitting and setting up an LSD centre is time consuming unless you are used to it. You need a dial guage, rolling torque guage to set preload and a slide hammer if its a live rear axle car i.e. 86.

If you take the whole diff out (centre and casing/carrier) most transmission specialists (in the UK at least) will charge £50-100. (70-140 Euros) to fit a diff centre and set it up.

If you can get S14 VLSD (whole diff) cheap (around £100-200 in UK) enough then i advise that because you can fit it with no special tools. Unless you feel ready for the welded action... :D

ok, thanks for fast reply!
i already have a s14 lsd .
just wanted to know if, but this sounds really hard for a hobby mech!

Oh right! yeah stick that in with some decent oil in it and you'll be sideways in no time.

Your car looks cool, it has a big front lip like mine

thx, how is ur car looking??
not the sig or? :D

but i should go on the s14 automatic lsd, cause of acceleration.

one day i will try to compete in the uk!
but before pratice sessions will be my only compete!

Yeah Auto diff is the one to have.

I wish it was my car in the sig...

Pure Auzzie muscle, Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe (AUDM Tyte yo?)

5.8 liter cleveland V8, strong 4 speed box, Live rear axle with ford 9 in LSD and disc brakes... simple but effective. Its Basically an AE86 for Big Boys!

But when I get one (not if its gonna happen oneday) it will look more like this, complete with blower...

I must sort some photos of my S13 Its black, no spoiler, low, SR20, zenki front lip. Looks like what mad max would have had if he was JDM tyte.

yeah, madmax!
i remember when was very young!

this guy rocks the aussi roads!!

you swap already the sr20? we had to do in a few weeks the fittng work, too.
my friend bought an engine.

s14 diffs are ver expensive at the uk aftermarket!!!
here we sell them for around 150€.

Mad Max rocks!

I have installed 4 SR20DET so far, It seems to be the way to go!
Took me about a week to install mine at a liesurly pace.
The wiring is the time consuming bit. :wack:

Yeah breakers here charge silly money, especially if they know what it is. :dermal:

Is it possible to do any prep before taking the old engine out? I've got an SR engine loom, and if I do the conversion, would like to be off the road for as little time as possible.

If youve got a spare S13 engine loom the wiring (the 'time' bit) can be done out of the car. I'm sure someone on here will have a spare S13 engine loom. In Fact you only need 3 plugs from it so if there is S13 in breakers you can clip them off and pocket them :D

Other than that its just an engine swap using a mixture of S13/14 bits... the S14 engine and box drop straight in.

You Know it deserves an SR...
