Nissan 200sx rear polybush problems

I got some of your bushes through Dan at DB-Power.

What on earth is the crack with the rear polybushes for the 200sx?

I'll list the issues I'm having with them;
  • Lower Arms - Bushes are 5mm too short to meet in the middle of the arms
  • Lower Arms again - Diameter of the bushes is a good 1-1.5mm too big to fit the arms. This is WITH the sleeves cut out and everything cleaned up.
  • Control Arm bushes (hub end) - Haven't measured up etc, but why aren't they split? I can see these being a right ballache to try and get the "shoulder" through the full length of the bore.

Any ideas? I'm pretty unimpressed with them so far TBH, and it would seem I'm not the only person to have had issues.

Hello!

Sorry, missed this.

Lower arms: Correct, they don't meet in the middle, they're not supposed to. With regards to the diameter being too large, that's strange. Have you actually fitted them?

Control arm/upright bushes: I'm not sure quite what your problem is, but there are no issues fitting them.

We've had the odd problem, but they are cheap and 99% of people are happy.

If you do have any issues and don't want to trim etc just let Dan know and we'll sort out some replacements.

Kam.

Well, by them not meeting in the middle, from what I've measured that makes them 3mm too long for the slot in the subframe, but I can sort that.

My little vice wouldn't push them in, can try a bigger vice though.

Control arm bushes, I'm just surprised the shoulder has to be forced through the hole. But if that's how it's meant to be, I'll force them through.

What's the best way to rework polyurethane bits? Does it react well to filing, would be neater than hacking at them with a blade.

You want more of a cut, I'd use a blade if you have to :)
I use one of those squeeze vices for the hub bushes, works sweet!

Any suggestions to avoid this happening?

I've got pressure on the whole bush at the end that's being forced out, but it's still coming out like that.

The best technique with those is to hand fit both halves of the polybush into the knuckle, so the bushes are completely flush. Then partially push the spindle in, and use the hand vice to push it all the way through. That way you don't get the polybush all bunched up like that:)

That's what I did. Popped the poly halves in by hand. Then I'm winding the spindle in with a vice. I've got a big flat socket against the end that's bunching out to maintain pressure on the whole bush, but it still bunches out.

Exactly the same has just happened to my Energy Suspension bushes. They are 1 piece though.

Worst bit is getting the metal sleeve inside as that pushes it out more.

Just make sure you lube it up loads and if its pushing out start again.

I had a nightmare with ym Energy ones so its not just the Driftworks ones

TBH you get bored of repeatedly having the same problem every time. They're full of silicon grease too, but they're still popping out.

Strange, like mentioned even pressure and some grease they should be fine.
Drop me an email if you're still having problems and I'll get another one sent out :)

Ahh yeah I forgot you got them through Dan.
Ok, I'll wait to hear from him.
