Hello, everyone! I am Ed, as I have bought my first 300zx I decided to create a build thread to show others what I am going to be doing and to ask stupid newbie questions :)

So few weeks ago I have bought my first 1991 twin turbo manual 2+2 300zx. Before that I had r33,s13 and loads of bmw`s. Z is a JAP import spec, 43 000 mix of miles and Km, shell is pretty much rust free besides few bubbles on the boot lid.

Engine has been rebuilt 2000 miles ago so it runs spot on,it is currently on a stock boost. I am waiting for the stage 1 turbonoz chip to arrive, so that will take me to around 350-400 bhp with a 15 psi boost, more than enough ! :)

Current plans for the car is Coilovers, Full car wrap, new wheels, engine mods, body mods like side skirts, splitter, diffuser, exhaust, making interior as clean as possible.

I have also started a youtube channel for this car just to keep the records of everything what i am going to be doing on it :D first video ever:
I will keep my thread updated once any job is done! Thank you for reading, here is few pics of how it is currently looking :)

Today I have worked on installing GReddy Profec B Spec 2 boost controller. Never done that before and I thought that I need to take the car to someone more experienced.

I have struggled to find any useful information for twin turbo engines but after watching one video which was super unclear and going through a diagram decided to try it anyway.

It was actually super easy and decided to do a DIY video in case anyone else needs help here is a link : :)

Got the Coilovers installed can`t be happier with the quality of these budget coils ! went for a good 60 mile cruise today, and they feel amazing on the road. Youtube link: ]

Wheels, tyres and bolts should be in tomorrow :)

Yesterday was a challenging day, got the tyres mounted and decided to fit them. Rear went kind allright but I had to roll the arch which wasnt a problem, but the front was touching a caliper ( due to a supplier sending me wrong ET wheels, obviously my fault for not checking). Had a 10mm spacer to try on but it was still touching slightly so that means I need around 12 mm spacer. I decided to go for 15mm to be safe. Follow my complete journey in my video :

Today I have fixed the clearance issue with my front by adding a bolt on hubcetric spacer and adjustable front upper camber arms :)

80% of wrap done. Took me around 26 hours to do that :) I am going to finish the rest end of this week as today we are starting on my friends 300zx where we are going to swap engine and do a manual conversion :)

Today i have installed DNA Motoring turbo elbows and down pipes. It was a struggle to get those top bolts out, but I have managed to get that done! my hands are sore after hitting every knuckle possible haha

Here is a quick video :)

Today i have been working on my exhaust leak and I have wanted to change my front and rear brake pads and in the same time adjust coilover springs. Unfortunately one of my piston is stuck and I had to buy refurbishment kit for my front brakes which will come in hopefully next week.

Started tucking my engine bay and making it a little bit cleaner :) what I have managed to get done in the last two days is that I have relocated my fuse box, ptu and steering pump reservoir.

Engine bay is getting cleaner bit by bit. Finally received intercooler silicone pipes, so i could relocate my blow off valves to the original spots under the pumper. I have also adjusted my handbrake as it was literally doing nothing.

Around a week ago I have picked up 300zx twin turbo manual, as I was looking for a drift project for a long time now. I went to look at one which was on ebay for around 2 weeks and no one was bidding on it. Owner said that is has electrical problem and the fuel is to rich. Driving 240 miles one way too look at it was not bad at all, once I have seen the car it looked like a good deal as the shell is perfect no rust, undersealed, engine sounded nice but it didint wanted to start once it heads up unless you bump start it.

Decided to buy it and drive the car back home, so once I got back home I have started looking for a problem, changed the ecu as it had a nistune chip , changed ptu, maf still the same problem. Spoke to like 5 different 300zx technicians and everyone said the same thing check the compression. Went and bought the tester and guess what! All 6 cylinders were on 110-120 psi of compression. So I guess we have found a problem!

After few days of thinking what to do with the car, I have came up to a decision to strip the car take all the better parts of it and put them on mine. Rest of the stuff what we done need to sell and keep the shell as donor, as the zed that we have picked up with forged engine is so rusty, it is just going to be much easier dropping all the good parts in to a nice clean shell :)

My car is getting new t28 turbos, new stage 3 clutch, new ally radiator, electric fans, powedercoated plenum and etc. so it is a win win situation :)

So thats the quick story from the last two weeks :D

last three videos if you want see the car how it looked when we have picked up and what is happening now :)

Installed japspeed back boxes today with X pipe, sounds so much better! I dont really like the look of those small tips tho.
