Nissan Silvia PS13 - Almost there

Hi everyone,

For the past few months i've been hard at work gettin my newly purchased PS13 ready for the 2015 season as my first year to go drifting.

I'm strugling abit to find the correct information regarding handbrake for the PS13, i see many people saying that the handbrake system for the S13 (EU) version is fine, but i dont think the PS13 is running on the same system?

I've tried tightning up my handbrake and looking for flaws but dont feel like i can find any? But it's really a pain to lock up.

Should i go for a hydralic system? or?

If its your first year drifting, prob the best thing you can do to learn to drift is to ignore the handbrake and learn to drift without it.

It's the same, have you just adjusted the cables or the adjusters at the back too?

Wrong. Import 180/"ps13" came with s14 rear brakes as standard. Poo. But be more then ok for your first drift day or two.

Switch to UK s13 complete rear setup.

Is it cheaper to go for a UK S13 setup then a hydralic setup and or better? Id rather pay a little extra for either option if its better?

Its cheaper to get a UK S13 rear set up, but look for one with good discs, pads and handbrake shoes or you'll be shelling out again (not a lot though) for replacements. You can either break the UK set up apart, then fit the backplate, cables, handbrake mech etc to your current set up, or swap the entire knuckles.

As for whats better? Depends on your driving style I guess. Some people never swap from a mechanical handbrake, some people prefer their hydro. I reckon you'd be better off upgrading the brakes all round whilst fitting a hydro, the standard rear calliper is pretty shit anyway.
