Hi all,

We are just starting this thread as a place for any nitrous related questions. Please feel free to post any questions or discussions on here regarding drifting with nitrous, or send us a message for anything else.

Thanks,

This is a good idea. There is a Holset thread, so why not this. There seems to be a lot of stigma and uncertainty surrounding NOS.

Is NOS bad for the engine and significantly reduce lifespan?

Absolutely not. As long as everything has been done correctly, with the correct jetting and mixture between nitrous and fuel, there is no reason why the engine should wear any more than usual.

Nitrous is very easy to 'turn up'. Similar to having a manual boost controller on an older turbo car. Things can go downhill very quickly when the boost has been increased without the fuelling to suit. It is very easy to do the same with nitrous. A quick change of jets and you could be doubling your power output and potentially damage your engine if the mixture happens to be wrong or too much for the engine.

We are just trying our hardest to properly educate people about nitrous and that it's not all about being told there's ''danger to manifold'' and going into warp speed like the films show.

you talking about dry or wet shot nitrous for drift applications?
what else goes hand in hand with nitrous as far as upgrades and modifications go?

You can run either. For a dry nitrous set up, you would need an aftermarket/chipped ecu that can tell the injectors to add more fuel on gas though.

In regards to modifications to go with nitrous, an aftermarket air filter is always a good start and at least a decat if not a full system. The only other things that you would potentially need (as with any power adder) are, an uprated clutch, ''colder grade'' spark plugs depending on how much nitrous you are running and retarding the timing slightly, again, depending on how much power you are running. Apart from the above, you are all set.
