Novice drifter - camber or caster?

I'm a relative novice in the drifting world, but have done a couple of days... Either way, still definitely learning!

I noticed on my car that I can easily mount both bottom arms further out, which I've done for the moment and it's given me visible drifty camber...

My question is, as a novice drifter, would I benefit more from just spacing the rear arm out to give me mega caster instead?

You don't want too much castor on a drift car. It's often reduced on cars with high steering angle.

Oh ok, I was under the impression it's useful for steering return... just for the record there's currently no lock mods

Here's how the camber looks at the moment:

Probably just keep it like that then and see how it goes on track!

Have you got a photo of the Audi's front suspension setup? Is it Macpherson strut or something else?

I think I remember seeing you've done a few skids in it, how did the steering wheel feel then? Did you have to manually counter or were you able to let the wheel go and it would counter itself? And if so, was it easy to make little corrections or did it feel heavy?

These are the things that caster can affect when getting the balance between self-steer and ease of input

It definitely falls under the category of "something else" ... If you're not familiar with VAG cars, I'm not sure there's much else like it out there:

Yea, it was actually your comment that got me thinking about this... I'm sure the wheel would have self-centered fine, think I was fighting it a bit though which obviously says more about my driving tekkers than anything else!

The steering wasn't heavy in the slightest, I was just palming the wheel round with one hand a lot of the time....

Yeah castor is the enemy at high angle. You'll be fine like that I'm sure.

Im in the midst of setting up my JZX90 and Ive done one drift day with it at Pod finding that it drove horrible, did some research and it seems most people have almost double the castor I have? can this rule be assumed for all cars considering mine is dual wishbone and not mcpherson?

Been away from drifting for a couple years and I dont want to bin my only car cause its a difficult drive.

It's not too dissimilar to JZX / IS200 suspension tbh, except for the steering pickups of course

I would hunt out alignment settings for those chassis and use them as a basis, then fine tune from there
