Hey, guys and gals.
Had an accident in my jzz30 1jzgte swapped 84 BMW. Basically, the BMW is complete soarer front cut including ECU and electrics. I hit a possum that ripped off my radiator hose, emptied my car of coolant in seconds and the car came to a complete stop about 10mins later.
When i got my car over to the side of the road i tried to start it and it made a clunk and didn't even make a revolution. I opened the bonnet and couldn't touch the motor it was so hot. I opened the oil cap and smoke came out. I guessed it was a dead motor and called the low load truck and dropped the car outside my house
I have insurance so i rung them the next day and told them what had happened and they asked for 2 tests to be done. By their mechanic. The first being a radiator/coolant system pressure test. It held 25psi for 30mins. The second test was a compression test. The compressions were an average of 140psi.
The mechanic says the car runs relatively smoothly with a miss at idle and has lost power. It was taken for a 20min drive and consumed 2.5litres of water one way. Another 2.5 coming back. He noted that with a new radiator cap you can see air and water being pushed out of the rad overflow line into the overflow bottle. He believes it's a blown head gasket and insurance is liable.
TLDR:
Accident ripped off rad hose. Car died-overheated, Call insurance, Asked for two tests compression and rad/coolant pressure test:
Rad pressure test 25psi stable 30mins
Compression results:
1:141
2:144
3:141
4:140
5:140.5
6:151
Car runs for 20mins and consumes 2.5ltrs water per trip.
4 months ago compression was an average of 175 across all cylinders with images.
Mechanic thinks it's a blown head-gasket. Has no idea why compression has dropped. Until we pull the head off
I really need some advice on where to turn to. If insurance covers a head gasket it will probably only be the headgasket.
I can buy another 1jzgte for 3k with compressions 185 across the board
I can pick up 1 2jzge with 3kkm on it for 1k and try a 1.5jz but i only have a stock jzz30ecu and its not a common conversion anymore
I can get the block done while the head is paid for by the insurance company
I can pick a 1jzvvti gte for 2400
Huge post i know thanks for looking.
