P reg BMW 525i SE Tourer

royal

S1- F.T break!
I bought this car to use as a daily drive/ tow slag for my Rx7 (I'm Royal on the rotary forums as well) with a view to possibly learning to drift in it in the future. Its a very nice car to drive but its got some things that need doing and I don't have time or inclination due to very heavy work commitments.

-MOT until december 07
-Not much Tax
-Its got high milage but the engine is solid and pulls very well. 220k miles :smokin: I'm happy for any test. Its not fragile at all and will take whatever you throw at it. The engines go on forever, 300k is common.
-It has FSH BMW Dealer to 160k, then has private garage history until around 200ish k miles. A lot of money has been spent by previous owners. I think it was a company car to start with hence the high milage. I bought it with 205k and it now has 220k miles. I have receipts for the things I've changed.
-I've replaced the water pump with a metal impellor one, the car temp stays at half way mark no matter how hard you drive. The sensor is broken in the radiator so it gives a coolant low alarm on the computer when the coolant is full. Has Royal Purple special coolant in it (stuff that stays cooler? as I had planned to do some drift days but never managed to get round to it.
-I've also replaced the fuel pump, the main relay and the fuel pump relay.
-Air con does not work. Heating works.
-The paint work is by no means perfect but it shines up well. The interior is clean, although one of the head rests has been chewed up a bit by my pet parrot (!). Glove box hinge broken, but I have the glove box and also another one from an older model but with same hinge so may be able to fix it.
- Alarm is disabled as it has a mind of its own. Remote central locking and imobiliser work fine though. Battery has been going flat lately when car has not been drove for a while. I think its prob something to do with the alarm.
-Tyres are worn, just passed MOT in december.
-Bodywork is very good, no rust. A couple of 5p size dints in the boot, no rust marks in them.
-Number plates are tatty, rear one needs replacing.
-front electric windows don't go down

The front nearside shock has gone completely. I have bought a new shock (KYB, just one side) and knock rubber but had a nightmare getting the old one out. A bolt on the bottom of the shock assembly/container where it connects to the suspension arm (sorry not sure of name) wouldn't budge and has rounded off. I removed the spring with the assembly on the car but then couldn't get the top off of the shock container to remove the shock, dispite tapping it and drilling a little hole to get it off. It could probably do with a new one of these (prob only a fiver). Its a pretty basic job, I've just got really heavy commitments at work and havn't got time or inclination to muck about with cars at the moment. I want to sell this and get a newer one of the same type that is worth sending to the garage to be maintained! The car is put together again with the knackered shock and can be drove away (with a bouncy knock!). The buyer can have the new shock and bump rubber to fix the car. Reasonable offers around £750 please. If I get a chance to sort it out I may keep it, but a decent offer can have it

On ebay as well starting at £500.

I've not drove a V8 but I think the V6 are more balanced and better suited to drifting? It's got plenty of power to get it sideways with the 525i. Its very easy to hold it sideways with the throttle on roundabouts in the wet. I'm not good or practiced enough to be able to do it in the dry though! Once things settle at work I'll be looking to get another one to learn to do some drifting in. Parts are very cheap for these from GSF, and they are very reliable. Makes more sense to me than a 200sx or the like.

Hmm just noticed another thread where the person wasn't a regular and had a car for sale. Hope I havn't offended anyone by sticking this up without being a regular poster on the forum? If its any consolation I've been lurking for a year or two?!

Auction is ending today, only at £500 first bid at the moment. I'm hoping it will go for more but its going for whatever its at. Car is still being used everyday , I've done well over 1000 miles this week. The battery problems were just because the battery needed topping up. Car could be drove across the country on pickup no problems. The shock, although knackered, isn't much of a bother driving wise.

You can have the 'bird' :) but not my parrot. The guy who bidded on this payed me a deposit and hasn't turned up, looks like his missus who I spoke to on the phone didn't know he'd bid on it had other ideas!
Its got a new battery (£70) now, but needs taxing (I can do it at buyers expense). Engine runs well and the car is drivable, but as said the shock is completely gone. I have a replacement that can go with it and the bump rubber. I need to shift the car as we have four and the landlord is getting impatient. If no-one is interested I'll look at getting the shock done myself and guess I'll stash it in work for when I've got the time to learn to drift :)

Had a few PMs about the car. Can I just add that it isn't a car that needs loads of work. Until the tax ran out I was still using it everyday, I've since got another car because I thought it was sold on ebay. All it needs is the shock sorting and perhaps some tyres and it will be good to go as a daily drive. There are various things like aircon, that doesn't work but its just the luxuries and electronics. The car is exactly as I bought it about a year ago in terms of these bits. I've done 15,000 miles plus with the car exactly as it is now.

Haha, picture of the 'banana' arn't going to help sell the Beemer! Fyi its a RS-R edition, only two known in the UK :) Goes like stink and puts a big smile on my face! Looks like this but now without the spoiler:
