S1- F.T break!
I bought this car to use as a daily drive/ tow slag for my Rx7 (I'm Royal on the rotary forums as well) with a view to possibly learning to drift in it in the future. Its a very nice car to drive but its got some things that need doing and I don't have time or inclination due to very heavy work commitments.
-MOT until december 07
-Not much Tax
-Its got high milage but the engine is solid and pulls very well. 220k miles I'm happy for any test. Its not fragile at all and will take whatever you throw at it. The engines go on forever, 300k is common.
-It has FSH BMW Dealer to 160k, then has private garage history until around 200ish k miles. A lot of money has been spent by previous owners. I think it was a company car to start with hence the high milage. I bought it with 205k and it now has 220k miles. I have receipts for the things I've changed.
-I've replaced the water pump with a metal impellor one, the car temp stays at half way mark no matter how hard you drive. The sensor is broken in the radiator so it gives a coolant low alarm on the computer when the coolant is full. Has Royal Purple special coolant in it (stuff that stays cooler? as I had planned to do some drift days but never managed to get round to it.
-I've also replaced the fuel pump, the main relay and the fuel pump relay.
-Air con does not work. Heating works.
-The paint work is by no means perfect but it shines up well. The interior is clean, although one of the head rests has been chewed up a bit by my pet parrot (!). Glove box hinge broken, but I have the glove box and also another one from an older model but with same hinge so may be able to fix it.
- Alarm is disabled as it has a mind of its own. Remote central locking and imobiliser work fine though. Battery has been going flat lately when car has not been drove for a while. I think its prob something to do with the alarm.
-Tyres are worn, just passed MOT in december.
-Bodywork is very good, no rust. A couple of 5p size dints in the boot, no rust marks in them.
-Number plates are tatty, rear one needs replacing.
-front electric windows don't go down
The front nearside shock has gone completely. I have bought a new shock (KYB, just one side) and knock rubber but had a nightmare getting the old one out. A bolt on the bottom of the shock assembly/container where it connects to the suspension arm (sorry not sure of name) wouldn't budge and has rounded off. I removed the spring with the assembly on the car but then couldn't get the top off of the shock container to remove the shock, dispite tapping it and drilling a little hole to get it off. It could probably do with a new one of these (prob only a fiver). Its a pretty basic job, I've just got really heavy commitments at work and havn't got time or inclination to muck about with cars at the moment. I want to sell this and get a newer one of the same type that is worth sending to the garage to be maintained! The car is put together again with the knackered shock and can be drove away (with a bouncy knock!). The buyer can have the new shock and bump rubber to fix the car. Reasonable offers around £750 please. If I get a chance to sort it out I may keep it, but a decent offer can have it
