PC steering wheel worth it to learn basics?

Hi . So first of all im not planning of becoming james deane but would love to learn an absolute basics like how to arround a roundabout sideways or just do a turn sideways without going in the ditch.. In my area theresnt that much empty spaces or any round abouts of where to practise and i dont want to pracise if theres cars arround as obvious...

However some of the logitech steering wheels for pc with pedals/shifter are arround £200 . Would they help at all to get that understanding in real life?
 
It won't be real life feeling as obviously you are missing plenty of physics, but it will help you understand some basics for sure.

I currently run an Oculus Rift, Logitech G29 wheel, pedals and shifter along with a hydro handbrake as my setup. Assetto Corsa is great when modded, it doesn't cost you many hundreds every time you bash your mate either.

Many people claim that it improves their drifting, I personally think it has improved mine but I am sure there will be people who have never tried for more than 5 minutes who will claim it doesn't.
 
I started on Assetto Corsa with a simple G29 setup. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but with a few mods and a shit load of practice I got there and now spend my time happily tandeming on online servers.

At the start of they year I got to an actual drift day. It took some getting used to my own car but in most aspects it is easier in real life as you get to feel everything. So yeah, from experience I'd say it helps a massive amount.
 
As above really, you just need to stick with it at the start. It does feel a bit weird but soon get used to your wheels ways. It's all in the settings but the information is out there.

Best thing you can do is buy a wheel hub adapter so you can fit a normal size wheel slows down your inputs and makes the game more immersive.
 
It took me really long to learn to do it in the PC, gave up at one point then went back.

A server opened up so I gave it another go and after a week or so playing most nights I got considerably better.

I agree with people that it helped with the basics and concepts in real life, but I went to my 3rd drift day recently which was much longer drifts and transitions and I found it to be very close to the simulator with better feedback being real life.

I would recommend not to anyone in the same position as me who has zero seat time, I was able to go out my first drift session ever and actually get some use out of it comoared to a lot of people I know who struggle multiple sessions in! For that alone it paid for itself.
 
As what everyone else has said, It'll teach you the basic controls for drifting.
More the main thing for me at least its fun to chill in a drift server and relax.

Shamefully I've clocked up many hours on Assetto Corsa o_O
