Hi All,
I have recently purchased a set of used HSD Monopro coil-overs with 7/9 KG springs for my e46 drift project.
When I first got them the previews owner had them preloaded with 5cm.
I have followed the guide on the driftworks webpage so my current setup is:
Preload set to 2-3mm just to stop the spring from moving freely.
The anti-roll bar eye is set to the same hight as the original suspension.
Hight set to stock hight. Dampening is set to 8 clicks (bang on in the middle)
It feels good in 99% of the time but if I hit a pothole or a collapsed drain (deep 5-10cm) I can hear a terrible metal bang. I am not an expert on car suspension but it looks like the suspension goes to its full travel and then hits the limit on the shock. I cannot imagine this is healthy for the shocks. Do you have any idea what I have done wrong?
