99 Mercedes W210 E class Saloon. Bought in Co.Waterford while I was studying there. Brought it back with me and have been working on it every now and again since. Decided that Id like to do something unusual to it so I opted for an s15 power plant, with the 5 speed box. sr20det non vvt. (as far as I can tell)
Took the original engine out of the Mercedes when I finished up in college and kinda left it to sit for a while.
Eventually I bit the bullet and threw the engine and box into where it wanted to sit, spent an evening at it and it looked promising. Oil pan had cleared the subframe without any issues and there was plenty of room from the steering rack.
I let it sit for a little more and then looked at engine mounts. I'm a second year apprentice in fabrication so that was all I had to work with. I used 5mm plate and 40x40x5 box section for both engine mounts. Don't have many pictures of the build process. Mounts were fabricated in house and then arc welded at home.
After the engine was centered, squared, leveled and mounted it was time to tackle the gearbox and where it was sitting. I don't have any pictures of that though but it went pretty well. The transmission mount was straight forward and the selector sat roughly where I wanted it to. I cut the transmission tunnel and made a plate to finish it all off. Between those bits and bobs I also sorted out a new oem style engine harness and factory ecu
Then the cheapo ebay turbine came in the post so that got chucked onto a japspeed bottom mount manifold that I ended up cutting, flipping and re-welding due to the turbo hanging too low and obstructing the engine mount
Since taking that picture I've managed to mount the intercooler and route some of the piping. Some wheels that I'd ordered from a sketchy Japanese website had arrived. A staggered set of BBS Rg's. 17" 8j+9j
