1966 Ford Cortina MK1

1600gt crossflow engine, box, prop and rear axle.

currently got a stainless system, kent fast road cams and a nice little filter box thingy.

My first car, and currently having a diff change. Deciding whether to weld it or not.

Chassiswise its got fully adjustable spax dampers, capri discs and RS2000 calipers. Lowered by some amount (not quite sure what though).

May change to a type 9 5 speed box.

While off the road i might get some engine work done.

1700cc rebore, higher cam, unleaded valves, nicer manifold, twin carbs (webber 40's most likely) and some other bits n bobs.

Ive seen pictures of my dads 1300 deluxe 20 or so years ago on a wet roundabout, so im sure this will have potential.

Hope you like.

ahah drifting a 1966 tax exempt classic...

im sure the purists will be turning in their grave at the thought of that! lol

Hehe thanks guys.

Thats gonna be really nice if he does it right.

Id like 4 link or 5 link rear suspension myself, but theres so many other things i wanna do first.

I cant wait to get it going and out there though.

Weld the diff! just make sure the void bushes and shizzle for the back axle are up to the job, polybushes if you havn't already (car looks built to a very good standard)

As old rubber bushes will have the car drifting itsself in a straight line after a couple of weeks with the welded diff!

I'd be adding some period rally touches to go with those minilites, like some chrome cibie spots and a few bits inside. perhaps a big round white sticker on the door for a number!

Very cool old skoolness.

Its staying like that im afraid.

Its set up for knockhill, as the last guy did a full restoration, then stripped it and specced it up good.

Its got no front bumpers and a big sump guard at the front, so it looks pretty meaty. Im not a big fan of the cibies, but im getting a halogen conversion next week, and i may get some little driving lights that can be hidden away but are pretty bright.

Its all polybushed now. But im giving them a good once over as i dont know how old they are.

Its due up for mot around august, after that, all the work shall be done :)
