Can a poly bush be used to replace the hicas ball joint and still use the standard rear arms?

if you are talking about the hub side bush. then i would say NO as there is nothing to stop the bush pulling out.

If you see the hicas elimiator kit, you will see the outer side is a clevis so goes either side of hub bush, just like any other of the rear arm/hub bushes.

What about if the poly bush had 2 large thick washers either side...would that not prevent them from coming out..?

They won't work with stock HICAS arms. The replacement ball joints are really expensive, it's worth looking at deleting the whole lot with one of our HICAS eliminator kits, it won't cost much more and replaces everything, not just the hub bushes
