First of, Hello!

So I found myself scrolling through the pages of a well know social media site, when I come across this, Rice-kitted, carbon wrapped R33, after looking at it for a few hours and thinking up my options, I messaged the owner about the car for some more information.

The next day I was off to view the car, once I arrived, the car was in a sorry state, one rear arch with surface rust, a ghastly front bumper, no grille, tinted windows, GTR boot spoiler cracked and hanging on, boost controller set so high it hit fuel cut at 3000rpm!! A genuine seibon Carbon Bonnet which had been Carbon wrapped???? No Rear seats or seat belts, drivers window not working, either a manifold blowing or exhaust blow, Amongst other little bits and bobs that need fixing.

Heres the pictures before I Viewed

But although I saw all the problems I found, the car had a decent spec.

Splitfire coilpacks
Trust Radiator
Japspeed Front mount intercooler
3 inch divorced downpipe
Invidia RSR decat back exhaust
Bilstein shocks and springs all round
Apexi Air filter
Greddy Profec Spec 2
GTR spoiler
full service history with 2 cambelt changes
a folder full of receipts including shipping documents and loads of receipts
a Print out for 302BHP on a dyno graph.
Toad Alarm system

So after the test drive the bloke selling the car was needing to get rid of the car before moving back to America, (USAF Military), He asked if I was interested in the car, We struck a bargain of a deal and I was now the owner of a 1993 R33 GTST.

The car sat at my parents whilst I sold my current daily driver Golf GTI R32 replica.

First Jobs:

Strip window tints
Turn down all Boost settings to stock
Service the car
Hoover the car and clear all the crap out
Wash it as it hadnt been washed for god knows how long
strip off carbon wrap from bonnet
get hold of some rear seats and belts
get a new front bumper
get a new grille
find out where exhaust leak is coming from

Window tints off and took forever to get the glue off the windows, plus doing this with the doors closed and using thinners was not the best idea!!
also removed the carbon fibre wrap from the bonnet, which revealed a beautiful weaved bonnet, but the clear coat on top had been badly damaged, so will need re-lacquering.
gave the car a good service and checked oils.
Fitted some new rear seats and belts, Supplied from my local Breakers GDUK!! Top blokes
The Exhaust leak was coming from the Downpipe of the turbo, Out of 6 bolts only 2 where half tight, and all the others where missing! As i am going to be replacing the manifold, manifold studs and nuts, turbo studs and nuts and downpipe studs and all gaskets i just put some nuts and bolts onto the downpipe for now.

My new bumper I found and the Misses bought it for my birthday present Woo!!

Heres the fitting pictures:

Order and fit my new BC BR Gold coilovers
Replace bushes
Find some Bucket seats and harnesses

re-do rear brake lines

Next up was to deal with the exhaust, current setup was way to quiet, didnt shout skyline like i wanted it too... so picked up a HKS exhaust of an R32 as i read somewhere they are the same apart from some hangers. This was not the case, Centre box is over the opposite side of exhaust and its about 5 inches too short. So i popped to see my mate and picked up 2 metres of 3" exhaust, Cut the centre box out and weld in a straight pipe.

then move the hangers which wasn't a big deal.

As you can see a huge rear silencer and a centre silencer

Old exhaust removed and laid next to R32 exhaust

IMG_1925_zps1mjbxl5b.jpg

Test fitted exhaust and seeing where i needed to make my cuts and welds

IMG_1929_zpsn6hz27ud.jpg

IMG_1930_zps359euj4i.jpg

then slid exhaust into pipe and tack welded into place

IMG_1932_zpsm2wdyhqp.jpg

took off vehicle then welded joints up and voila one straight piped HKS R32 exhaust onto an R33 obivously changed the hangers too

IMG_1934_zpsy5b4bscx.jpg

then heat wrapped the exhaust

IMG_1977_zpsy0umpdgz.jpg

then removed some non essential pipework from the engine bay, Changed fuel filter, put new indicator bulbs in, machine polished the whole car.

IMG_1969_zps4yiczamo.jpg

took car to a local car show

IMG_1979_zpsqobqji5s.jpg

next on list is some new gaskets for downpipe, silicone intake hose, GTR Rear overfenders and fitting some Aerocatches.

until next time!!!
