Hey guys, this is my first post ever so take it easy on me lol. Im currently building my rb23det and there's not much info out there for me so I'm hoping someone here can help me out. My goal is 400whp and the question is, Is the factory 3" intake pipe from the air filter to the turbo too restrictive for my goals? Also, the intake pipe connecting to the throttle body seems to have a relatively small diameter, will it flow enough air? How many psi can the factory recirc valve handle? I know these are odd questions but I can't really find anyone who's asked them before.

My setup for 400whp is:

Walbro 255lph pump
Custom driveshaft and rb25 transmission
Nismo twin plate clutch
Rb20det block bored to 83mm
stock rods and crank
Mazda BPT 83mm pistons
Tomei 1.5mm HG
ARP head studs
HKS 264 cams
No name cam gears
FMIC
Holset HX35w
38mm external wastegate
Nistune ECU
Z32 maf

Only planning on revving to about 8K

Any help is much appreciated. If you think there's anything else I need to reach goal please chime in.

that seems like an awful lot of work when you cage take an RB25DET to a stage 2 and be running around 400/430 RWHP.... and it will do that on standard inlet and throttle body (mine will be running this next year)

Its deffinately more work than an rb25. I wanted to go a diiferent route though because I don't know if my exact setup has ever been done before and its a fun project. Anyways does anyone know if i can leave stock inlet, TB and recirc valve

When a HX35 has a 4in inlet, you can't fit the stock inlet pipe anyhow.
I made 470bhp on the stock RB20 throttle, no way is throttle of boost pipe size restrictive at that level.
Doubt the factory recirc spring is very strong, so will prob leak. I just ran without any kind of BOV at 1.5bar+

I have a 4-3in silicone reducer I was thinking I might use. But good to know that its doable on stock TB, thansk! Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you run a BOV over 1.5bar. My understanding was that the positive pressure would work it's way back through the piping and have a chance to stall your turbo which could damage the wheel and bearings. Im still pretty new to turbos though so please correct me if I'm wrong.
