RB26 into R32 GTS-t???

paulsmith

Team Japspeed
Im looking to get more power out of my R32 GTS-t drift car, and have been considering saving my money on tuning the RB20 and opting to drop an RB26 GTR engine in it instead.

Does anyone know if this has been done before in the UK? Is it possible? and which tuner would you recomend to do the conversion?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Paul.

I've seen Abbeys do it when I spent a bit of time down there but it ain't cheap as I've been told they have to change a hell of a lot of wiring etc., plus the cost of the engine, I beleive it comes out to around 6-7k.

OR i could always get you one done already :) .

I'd have thought you'd have been better throwing a bit more dosh at the RB20 or is it expensive past a certain point?

Glen

The RB20DET engine is a good engine, they will take 450bhp standard if you replace the head gasket for a steel one :D then add HKS GT-RS, GT3037 :D

with some smart mods and maybe a new plenum would be great, oh and they have silly sized injectors 270cc iirc so get some RX7 ones or GTR (need to chance impedance thou)

Stick with the RB20DET :D You know it make sense :D

(I'm not saying this because i've bought one for my S13, no way) :wack:

If it's displacement you're after, would an RB25 not be easier and cheaper? Or am I missing the point somewhere? :wack:

There is a guy doing exactly this on the GTROC. Apparently it costs around 10K to get 500-550bhp out of and RB25 and it works out cheaper to swap a 26 in

First question: What sort of power are you after Paul? 300bhp should be a doddle to get from your engine.

Fuck it

Put in a SR20! Lighter, weight further back, better handling. Easily available parts. 350bhp piece of piss! Thats what I was going to do!

Good idea.:)

man you only need 350bhp MAX to rock a R32. Look at Dart Izumi ffs!!! just throw a few bits at it and have it set up properly. spend your money on suspension mods and steering mods. (see tein catolouge and buy all... haha)

If you strip all the wieght out (properly) it makes a HUGE difference (as me and wolstenholme both know) then you can spend what cash you have left on a dart izumi bodykit and be happy. cool aero = better drifter :D haha x

What am I going to be looking at doing to get it up to 350bhp?

Did you tune the engine much on your r32 Matt?

Aero has been sorted and is on its why ;)

Paul, bodykits are :dermal:

Real men have cars with dents in the sides!

RESPECT THE RIPPLE!

For 350bhp youre gonna need a big FMIC, decent exhaust and down pipe, GTR 444cc injectors will only be running at about 65% duty), bigger turbo (possibly RB25DET? or get your turbo hybridised:wack: with steel wheels and bigger housings so you keep the roller bearing core), possibly a bigger AFM (RB25DET(?) or Z32), a re-chip to suit them, a bigger fuel pump and for safetys sake a thicker head gasket.

For 300BHP I reckon you could do without the injectors (stock will just about be ok, 90ish% duty), AFM, head gasket and maybe turbo. I dont think the chip would be essential but it would be a good idea to get it remapped anyway.

Or summin like that. :wack::smash:

if you're going to swap an engine then SR. its not worth putting in an RB25/6 for the cost of it over here. theres alot of RB25 R32's in japan because you can buy the engine and premade loom with the other ancillary bits for £1500!

and don't listen to mat, get everything on yahoo auctions that relates to suspension. LOADS cheaper than tein crap  ;)
