RB26 pistons in RB25????

Ok, I'm sure I have read something on here but can I hell find it...

Correct me if I am wrong but sure I have read that the RB26 rods are forged and are a good mod to carry out on the RB25 motor, is this correct or part of some crazy dream??

You can run rb26 rod in a rb26 and are an ok upgrade but may as we'll buy a decent set rb26 pistons won't fit without using rb26 crank as the pin hight in the piston is different

Rb25/6 rods are the same length but as you correctly say, the 26 rods are thicker/stronger.

You can replace the 25 rods with 26 rods no issue - you only need change pistons if you change the crank thus the stroke.

If you use the rb26 crank you will also need 26 pistons.

So yes - 26 rods are a good cheap upgrade on your 25 with a set of forged 25 pistons (which I assume is the plan)

I hope this helps!!

Sorry to dig this one up again, but anybody know what power the 26 rods will take?

I am working on a shopping list atm for my RB25 build so if I could go with 26 rods instead of forge ones then that would free up some budget for other shiny bits...

The N1(standard internals) r33 r34 race cars had 500>550bhp, some people use them for short bursts with 600>700 bhp. However, it is revs that generally kills rods. Any RB engine above 500 bhp ideally needs a high capacity (not pressure) oil pump below this figure and they last for a long time.
