Rear mounted Rad?

Hi guys,

Just wondering. When mounting the radiator in the trunk (boot) is there a need for another water pump in the line or is a 1jz engine capable of pumping the water to the rear of the car?

Thanks

The theory is if you do not increase the head, you should not need an additional pump.

Extra pumps are general needed e.g. in off road vehicles when the radiator is raised up much, much higher than the engine (this increases head, which needs more power to overcome and move the water round).

I have a rear rad setup, not planning on using an extra pump either.

An electric pump with speed controller has huge advantages over the mechanical pump.

Never a risk of cavitation when your sat on the limiter, you can post flow when you turn the car off to stop hotspots and you can be sure it's circulating all the coolant in the system.
