Hello, First post, and its not a drift car, so im off to a good start! But if theirs going to be advice for what im doing there isn't a better place imo.
So im Jack, have a 2003 Focus RS that over the years iv butchered into my idea of a racecar, it works, mega competitive and the purests hate me for chopping up a real "RS Ford"
My Issue is, like most, grip, and needing wider rear tyres under the standard archs wasnt going to work. I have bought full replacement carbon kevlar rear quarters to give me much needed room. My issue is fitting them.
Idea is to cut out the original outer skin leaving about 2-3" of metal behind the door, below the window and down the rear quarter.
Fixing them to the car is where im after a bit of advice. Its no show car, never will be, but i also dont like the after thought look of just slapped on the car. Its not a car that does door to door racing so replacements shouldn't be happening every month. But bonding them on isnt going to happen and i wont be "body working" them ether, they will just get wrapped matt black like the rest of the car.
These panels are fairly detailed showing the whole inner door shut ect as it is on the car.
The company's advice was to chop all of the extra off and just rivet them onto the panel, but that would leave a hard edge the whole way round the skin.
Originally i thought i could get away with just riveting it on in hidden area's. On the window frame (window would then sit on top), where the rear bumper mounts (again covering it) and inside the door shut.
But having finally got my rear window out placing the panel on the car the wheel line is off ever so slightly.
So the only options i can think of is using rivets, measure them out equal spaced ect, or rivnut the original panel (prob use M5's as M6's are just a little to in your face) and use button heads to fix the panel to the car. again equal spaced ect.
Can see how the wheel well sits just a little off here.
So im looking for options and advice, if you have photos that would be ace to see!
