Redtop SR20DET problem??

Well i have a 93 180sx sr20det redtop, its been off the road since i bought it 6 months ago, and now i want to get it on the road. lol anyways to make a long story short its putting out alot of white smoke and idling rough, when i start it, it idles at 1500 rpm for awhile until it warms up then it goes to 900/800 and kinda vibrates or idles rough. my big concern is that the oil level is increasing and smells lightly of petrol.
I recently changed the oil and oil filter to see if it would do any good but it hasnt.

up until this i would start the car at least once every 2 weeks, and i had no problems at all, the problem started when i put petrol in the car a few weeks ago. after i put the petrol in it and started it, i was waiting for the car to warm up when after 2 minutes the car started spluttering and died out.

Any help would be appreciated! :o
cheers.

you may have picked up some dirt in the fuel line.. i would change fuel filter to start with. if there was no prblem b4 u put fuel in then its that area i would look into. plus check your fuel pump is working.

exact same

I actually have this exact same problem in my black top SR. I havent ran into any problems with it dieing yet, but i do idle low after it warms up. Still runs though. The white smoke it also there but i just figured its running rich, which i assumed was ok, better to be rich than lean. So will the overfueling potentially mess up anything? other than burning plugs fast of coarse? With the oil smelling of fuel have a burnt any rings or anything?

does your sr idle a little rough mate??

yeah not so much jumpy or anything, just after its warmed it idles very very low. You get anywhere with yours mate?

when my engine is warm it kinda idles between 800-900 rpm just a slight hesitation. hopefully i'll get it sorted tomorrow!
does ur oil increase or smell of petrol?

Keep me updated on how your car works out mate!

Smells of petrol. Im going to go change it today and see how long it takes to happen again. I also have a slight starting problem. I had a small battery in my car because my intercooler pipe runs through the battery tray so i figured the battery being so small was the problem, just wasnt kicking out enough voltage. So this past weekend I relocated my battery to the trunk. With a normal sized battery it still takes me turning it over 4-5 times to crank. So im hoping my alternator is bad and it isnt related to this fuely oil problem. Just hoping my engine isnt to messed up. I havent been running this motor long at all :(

The starting problem sounds like ur plug gaps are to big take them out and give them a clean up and regap them if its over fueling it will soot the plugs up quick. the straner on the fule pump in the tank might all so have some crap in it u cud take that out and clean it.

Does anyone with more experience think that the oil smelling like fuel and oil level raising could be related to piston rings?

fast cav is normally not far away with his ideas !

could 1 of your injectors be staying open ?

fpr could be screwed

how do u find out if one of your injectors is staying open?

my fpr is reading 55psi and my sr is pretty standard apart from a front mount intercooler, 4 branch manifold and an uprated fuel pump. a standard sr should be at 43.1 psi
