Why dont you do it yourself? I've just had some paintwork done and it's fucking appauling  loads of drippy bits and 100% orange peel  I think I'm going to redo the wings myself once I get some space..

I asked Paz about a guide for spraying as he has done it in the past (specifically toyota though). Maybe he can post his mini-guide up?

FAO Paz: Is the black Toyota Astral Black?

You can't trust anyone anymore to do a half decent job  sorry too here that phil, i bet it was not cheap

I don't know if i would want to do it myself, i know that i would mess it up as to me its a bit of a black art, lol

Phil cant you just polish the paint back with some real fine wet and dry? Im sure you cold get it smooth without having to repaint it all.

yeah probably, but I don't know how much paint he put on, so it'd probably be quite easy to go through to the fibreglass on the edges, I'll be giving this a go then using a bit of cutting past 1st though :)

Jay i couldn't bring myself to start sanding new paint work back :worthy:

I say do it yourself. Its not that hard if you take your time. Besides, its true that you cant trust anyone. If you DIY you will probably get very good results very cheap. But it is time consuming job, and the worst thing you can do is to rush yourself. If you pay someone to do it you still might not get a good service.

If its not some fancy flip colour you dont realy need that much skill to do it properly. You just have to work slowly.

Here is a howto i wrote. Its about painting wheels but it doesnt matter, its the same thing :)

Its part of the process if you want a real mirror like finish.
I did a bit on the corolla once I got it back from the painters mainly to remove a couple of runs that I saw. I just rubbed them out with 1200 grit paper using soapy water you couldn't even tell they were there.

I have to admit after spending all that cash on the paint job a was a little concerned.

Anyone else know what the Toyota Black colour is? Paz told me it was Cosmic?Cosmos? (deleted pm). But after a trip to the local chavfords I noticed they only had Astral Black...

I have a mate that used to be in the trade, he has kept all of this tools, and does bodywork stuff as a side job to earn extra cash.

He is very good, and I've used him several times and recommended him to friends.

I don't know where ablouts you are based, but I'm near Gatwick.

Spraying cars is a little bit of a black art, but it's all in the preparation.
