Roll cage chat

So, a few questions regarding roll cages as I see a few differences of opinions.

It seems a lot of people go for a bolt in cage as opposed to a weld in cage. Aside from a slight cost saving, is there any other particular reason people do this? Do you think a car with a welded cage would be worth more/ less on the market?

Also, do you guys think a 6 point cage offers the best protection, or is there merit in say extending the front legs of the cage to the/ footwell bars ect?

I noticed that Nascar type door bars are used by some - do the doors always have to be cut for these or can they just be pushed out a little? If cutting doors do you loose window up/down function?

What are people's opinions on removable door bars?

I'm guessing for a welded cage you need to take all the glass out? Who would do this/ put it back in? Guessing the dash would have to come out too?

How do people paint their cages? Just normally a rattle can unless doing a full respray?

Do people have insurance issues with cages fitted?

Cheers for opinions!

Hello mate.

A big factor, aside from cost, is ease of install, with a little common sense anyone can stick a bolt in cage in their car! Just make sure you've got good spreader plates.

I didn't have any insurance issues with a cage when my 14a was road legal, was just on one of Adrian Flux's modified policy, never got any more extra attention from the police ect.

Painted mine with rattle cans, they're just metal after all :)
