Rust, evil evil rust.

Hi guys and girls.

Basically I've looked at a few s body's of late and rust seems to have really messed them up. I had a s14a around 6 years ago and was mint but similar cars seem to be in a right state. Question im getting at is do other jap cars suffer quite as bad as the Nissan's? My skyline I've got seems to be getting scabby in places.

In a few months I'm hopefully going to be in the market with between 4-6.5k and was wondering if a soarer or chaser would be a better option over a s or r body as far as rust?

Im an Aristo and Soarer man, and you very rarely if ever see one of those go as bad as an S body. They were just better built I suppose.

Thanks for the reply.

That's kind of what I'm getting at. I've not seen any soarers in the flesh but from pics and what I have seen of Toyota's they seem more structurally sound.

Just better built with better materials I guess. Ive got a 93 R32 and side by side with a big Toyota it feels a generation away, flimsy.

I've never driven a chaser or soarer. Owned a s14a and currently have a r33 and agree they do feel flimsy. I had a Toyota starlet, now that my friend is flimsy, bent the slam panel leaning on it.

That was one idea I had. Seems there making quite a bit atm. Importing a nice 180sx or s14 will cost me more than I can afford.

I'll agree with the topic here . Nissan were always a cheap car manufacturer whereas toyota catered for more executive clients look at the model of cars jzx,soarer,gs300,crown ect and obviously you get what you pay for soarer when new were 49k s15s when new were only 24k . But they did do something (toyota) as it's usually subframe that rot . It's very rare to see rotten arches or sills unless they've been tampered with or ragged up and down the m6 since 1900
