I'm a 19 year old girl and saving for my first car. I can drive and drift but I'm mad to get a RWD jap import as my first car. Is this just dreaming big or does it only depend on my financial situation when it comes to getting insurance quotes? Any advice appreciated!

I think you're being a bit ambitious tbh, but get some quotes first, and use all the tricks you can, garage it, make sure it has thatchem alarm etc etc I even put my nan on mine and she brings it down by a quarter on average.

I got a bmw 318i when I was 18 and third party fire and theft was £3150 a year, I think if I'd thought about it I probably could've insured a sick car for that money. So you'll have to do your homework. I got told it was the fact I was 18, with a rwd "sports" car lol and that was flux as well, nobody else would touch me

This seems a bit of a daft thread really - why hypothesise when you can just ring round some insurance places and see if they're likely to insure you, and if so, what the damage will be.

No doubt some places will offer to insure you, it'll all come down to your budget. Try all the tricks in the book. Don't always assume garage is cheaper - It was cheaper to say I park mine on my drive than in the garage. Having my mum on it lowered it, but my dad made it go up, and my partner was a no-go too. For some odd reason I was always best with admiral on my jap cars, but they were rubbish with BMWs.

It'll just take time to find the cheapest quote, but I suspect if you're trying to insure a skyline at 19, the word cheapest might not be very appropriate!

insurance is ridiculous use go compare etc and ring around, im paying £800 on my 316 and im 20 with 3 years ncb, have a friend that had a 350Z at 19 (went from a 1.1 KA to a 3.5ltr v6) and it cost him £950 on insurance if it was left on road and £1400 if parked in his garage. change all the options available to see hwat the outcome is.
id say look at mx5s for cheap rwd

MX5.
BMW all 3 & 5 series.
Volvo 340, 360, 940.
Ford Sierra.
Vauxhall Omega.
Nissan S13, S14.
Ford Capri.

Try everything. You never know. Say you've owned it for 10 years.

Isn't it extremely unheard of for a first time driver to be able to get insured on something like an s14? My dream would be a chaser or an s14/s14.5 but wouldn't it be almost impossible to get a quote which doesn't exceed the price of the car itself?

Forget chaser, my mate just brought one, all the tricks used, 25, 7 years ncb and he's still paying £700 a year

I think an mx5 would be your best bet

this has been done to death.

to simplify: yes it will cost you fuck loads to insure anything rwd at a young age. Especially if its an import/first car.

Insurance varies thousands of pounds for every person. Go and get some qoutes.
