s14 Klonks from the back..

Hi so i've had this problem for a while now. ill list what i've tried, hoping someone with some knowledge might be able to help me out.

So its mysterious klonks from the rear. I have a welded diff in there, when i start moving it klonks quite bad and when i turn, rather that one wheel skipping it klonks!!
At first i thought it was the bushes in the diff so i've changed the fronts for solids as the rears didnt seem too bad and seemed like way too much effort for me at the time.
Still no difference.....
So next i changed the diff for another welder, this time a 4.1 for better skids (y)
Low and behold it still does it..... I checked the old diff and there isn't any play i can feel by hand.

I bought some half shafts at the same time as the diff so thought id give them a change as there was a hole in one of the CV joint covers.
Guess what..... its still the same!!

So what could be causing this mysterious noise?
When i jack the back up and turn one wheel by hand it takes a moment for the other to catch on if you get what i mean, if i turn the wheel a small amount back and forth it doesn't move the other at all! (ill try get a video made to show what i mean) i thought this to be diff backlash so got the other, could I have been mugged off with two crap diffs? They both seem fine (by hand) and came from some alright guys

Any help greatly appreciated as the car sounds like crap unless i'm moving.....

My mate had same in his with an open diff (vlsd) and it was the rear diff bushes. Also are you sure its coming from diff or surrounding bushes? Could be a coil over maybe??

I do need to change the rear bushes but as mentioned one wheel can turn a small amount before the other catches on. Ill make and put up a link to a video when i get home to show you what i mean.

Yeah we've got a couple of cars atm with welders in and they do the same, can probably get 1/16 of a turn on one side before the other follows

I'm pretty sure it's the CV joint on the half shaft after having a play. It klonks on the jack so ain't the diff moving as that's my jacking point :)
If i wiggle the half shaft it makes the same noise.
Luckily it was the other side that had the hole so I'll swap it out and see what happens..
