s14/SR20DET braided turbo lines - oil line on turbo issue?

Daze

THROWDOWN
Hey guys,

Just got delivery of my braided turbo lines, seems all good. However, got a potential issue on the turbo oil line.

This is a photo of the problem, tightened it as far as I feel safe doing, yet there is still threads showing through and the union is not seated properly?

Is this OK or not? Or should it be packed with a few copper washers, so the face of the connection tightens onto copper washers?

T28R turbo.

Thanks.

The fittings are conical, they seat inside not at the edge of the fitting like a banjo etc.

:)

Ah sweet, makes sense actually if I remove it and look into the turbo I can see what you mean. Worth putting PTFE tape on the threads or no bother?

Ok Kam, cheers bud :)

Edit- my mate had the exact same "problem" as this a few days ago and told me about it, he's fitted it WITH some washers packing it out, you think he's safe to run like that, or should remove washers & re-fit without?

Totally depends if it's seated properly.

If it is, all good - the washers won't be doing anything.
If it isn't, (washers holding the seats apart) they need to come out.

It would 99% leak though if it wasn't seated properly.
