S14 SR20DET ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS

Hi all,

Been dealing with a weird electrical issue on my S14 for about a month now; Can't seem to solve it so I'm hoping you guys can help me out.

Was sat warming up my car when all of a sudden it almost cut out and dropped into limp mode. It'll start and run, but it's rich as hell and takes ages to start.

Flicking the key to the ON position, I can hear a relay clicking on and off rapidly down by the driver side fuse box; It's the fuel pump relay to my knowledge - Took off and replaced the relay and it'll still do it. Try to start the car and it'll tick again (you can hear the fuel pump start to prime with each tick) and it'll start eventually, but runs like crap.

Checking the consult port, I'm getting nothing through that at all.

Checked the ignition switch, the wiring's gross (previous owner had push button at some point) but gets continuity through it with a multimeter, so I doubt that's the issue (Ordered a new switch, but the supposed "S14 ignition switch" isn't the correct one - Looks to be a 350z/R32 GTR switch I've been sent.)

The weird part of this is that I've had it running perfectly after wiggling the ign switch wiring once - no relay tapping, perfect AFRs, data out of the consult port. Moved the car, parked it and went to move it again to have the issue happening again. Now wiggling the wiring doesn't make a difference - Could have been utter chance that it started.

Things I've checked:
  • Battery replaced, grounds cleaned.
  • ECCS/Engine Control fuses checked
  • Nothing out of Diagnostic port
  • Clicking relay replaced, no change
  • IGN Switch tested with multimeter, continuity through appropriate pins
  • Fuel pump hardwiring checked over, no points it can ground out.

I've pulled the fuel pump fuse just to ensure I don't cause any issues when testing anything, but I can now hear injector 1 clicking with the key in ON position. This leads me to believe that the ECU ECCS circuit is fried, as this really really really shouldn't be firing at this point to my knowledge.

At my wits end with it, no auto electricians will look at it (Called 3, "No OBD too old, bye" pretty much) and I can't think of anywhere local that I can take it to (West Midlands) that I know of that won't either be fully booked until 2025 or will actually know what it is.

Does this sound right to anyone with more knowledge than me, or am I completely barking up the wrong tree?
