Saab b204 in sierra hatchback

Hi all been meaning to put up a thread on this for a while now.
So a mate had an xr4x4 shell laying spare he bought it for a few parts for his own drift project. I acquired the shell just in December and have been gathering up bits here and ther for it.

Got the engine on here but can remember the fellas name.
It's a b204 which I believe is out of a 9-3.
Came with an omega gearbox and a few other bits. Had to use a saab pressure plate and a Cavalier turbo clutch plate.

While the engine was out I put a new set of bearings in it just to be on the safe side.
So for iv got braided brake lines a hydro new wheel etc etc
Wheels are jbw pepper pots 13x8

Biggest job on the conversion was always going to be the sump. I made this thing in my spare time at work, it's not pretty but hopefully it works OK. Front bowl with baffles holds around 5 litres of oil

Tried it in last week and fits real well have to run a top mount turbo set up to give room for a mount on the passanger side. Fitted the front mount and the radiator to see what room was left for fans, should get away with a couple of slimlines.

That's as far as iv got hope to have it done this year some time

I'd try to move the cooler and rad forward if possible so you can get a good size fan and shroud in there. Slimline fans really don't work and if tight to the block can't move air.
Have a look at vectra fan's they're cheap and move plenty air just ditch the standard controller that's in the shroud.
I'm sure people modify cheap sr manifolds into twinscoll manifolds for these engines could be a cheap cost effective way of topmounting. What size turbo you planning on running?

Iv got enough room to fit two 12" slimlines so thought that should be enough. Putting vents on the bonnet also and will probably have a few holes in the bonnet also to aid cooling. It's just the standard t25 at the min until I get it running but I'll be getting a td04. I have a flip plate for the standard manifold, I'll see how that goes before i do anything else. Apparently they work quite well but I'll find out soon enough

I got a "Cosworth" intercooler and rad for mine, although the intercooler is for the xr4ti. Had to mount it as far forward as the from crossmember would allow to get clearance for the pipe work to the turbo and inlet. Also made more room for the fans too. But had to cut out the rear of the headlights to get them back in.

I had room to move the engine back an inch so ther is plenty of room for fans now. Are you going twin turbo on your bob? Have a couple of mates with boa's in sierras

I was going to use a pair of Nissan r33 turbos but I was going to have to change too much to get them it. So I have a GTX3582r. Easier to fit a single turbo in

Finally got this thing running. Just making up a propshaft son can test drive it for the first time. Also fitted my braided hoses, replaced all the bushings with polyurethane. Fitted a set of gaz coilovers and welded the dill. It's slowly getting there.

Really nice project, i am doing something similar, it´s also a Ford sierra, ( i don´t know yet wich shell i will use, i have a 5 door shell and a Sapphire Shell) but the i am mounting a Volvo V70R engine. kee us updated ;)

Nice idea using the saab engine as they're pretty much bulletproof, I saw a mk4 supra with saab b204 at gatebil once.:D
Keep us updated!

Yea they seem to be getting more popular. They are cheap and easy to get decent power out of and thers plenty of gearbox options now.

so cool! those saab engines are great. there was an s14 around on ebay not long ago with one of these engines in it. Looking foward to updates!
