seat problems

 has anybody out there in driftland fitted a cobra monaco bucket seat to an s14? just spoke to a guy from cobra and he said that they should fit but they don`t do a subframe for the 200sx. could anyone shed some light?

and for information pusposes the guy also mentioned that he would happily do a group buy and knock some wonga off if a bunch of us ever wanted a few seats.

cheers

Seats aren't the problem. Sub-frames are. You have to, either, make your own, or, pay around £120+ for a 'Bride' one. Thats the main thing that stops most people. Then you start thinking, if it's that much for a rail, I might as well either not bother, or get a really nice seat to justify the extra wonga  I was gonna get a Monaco, now I'm gonna get an Evo 2 :D :D Three times the price but worth it

Do the Monaco's have facility for a six point harness or only 4 point?

I can't imagine making a subframe would be hard. I've had to do this for just about every car I've ever had :wack:

I'm fairly sure you can use 6 as it is FIA approved. Might I add, the cheapest FIA approved unless you count the ones which are just aluminium shells that you pad yourself :wack:

I'm sure it's not, if you know how to weld, which I don't :wack:

yeah, it`s a six point harnesser thingy ma jiggy wotsit. how about a corbeau forza sport? anybody tried one of these in an s14? do corbeau do a subframe for the 14?

questions questions!

I'm sure Al Tang could sort you out with a Bride subframe. You just need to chose a seat that will definitely fit that frame.

When chosing seats it's definitely worth going and sitting in some if possible before deciding. Might be worth a trip to your local Halfords/Ripspeed/Neon and Bassbin place just to try some out

alan only does the base mount ones though, which appear to cause major headaches when you fit a bucket seat onto them rather than a recliner:(

just bite the bullet and get a proper rail if you can't make one yourself. plenty of people seem happy spending £100 on a steering wheel, or a stereo, or BOV, or even a :dermal: standard VLSD! having a good seat with a good position is one of the 3 important upgrades

I've just fitted Sparco Evo seats in my S13 and what a bitch it was to make up subframes to fit using the stock mounting bolts as the floor is all over the place plus you you still have to use the Sparco solid mounts so in effect you use two bases.I could take some photos but still don't know how to post them up.If you want any Sparco stuff the place to get it is from Mardigras motorsport in silverstone as you can try the stuff at Grand prix race wear then go across the industrial estate bit and get 15% of it from Mardigras.

yeah, I had to fully butcher my Bride Subframe to get my sidemounted Corbeau to fit. Ended up only using the bottom half of it and fabricating the rest :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:
so who currently sells decent subframes/rails off the shelf then?

I dont know but i want one :smash: :smash: :smash:

did Bren ever get anything sorted? I know he was looking into it ages ago.......

I got my bride FG sidemount rail off bren, I think he has a couple left that were returned after folk found they don't fit fatass spec seats.

of course Final Stage could get them cheaper off yahoo, although it won't be genuine bride. I would have got one, but bren had the FG in stock and I needed it badly after mangling my old one when I crashed

I currently have a Cobra Monaco bolted to a Bride subframe in my s13. Bolted straight up, no drilling, nothing.

i wanna bodge sumat up for my seat, wondered what i had to do

Yep, had a Forza bolted to a brutalised stock S13 frame. Couple of lengths of angle iron and a couple more of flat bar, some bolts, sorted.:)

I thought there was someone who did it and found it to be way too high though? it was ages ago when alan first started selling them?

There are 2 bottom mount Bride frames. Ive got the higher one which suits me coz Im a short arse, the lower one should be fine for everyone else.

So lets get this straight then..

A Cobra Monaco Bucket Seat will fit straight in, if you buy a Bride Bottom mount subframe ?

Si

I think so. maybe steve can shout out the names of the low and high frames? I think that they're the MO and RO?
