Seat won't fit inside DW seat rails

I have just bought a Motordrive seat and it won't fit inside the driftworks rails I bought from the DW shop. Is the only option to bolt the seat to the floor or have it really high up? Could the apex rails work? This is for an S14

How far off is it? It must be quite a wide seat.
If it's just a little bit to wide, you can bolt it all together lose, then do it up tight. The sliding mechanism will be stiff, but it will still move. If it's massively to big, you have no hope with any off the shelf rail, and you will have to custom make a rail or modify the DW rail.

Just while i remeber, i bought 2x brand new DW superlow sidemount rails for Sbody, they are not quite the DW quality i am used to.

my seats almost rattles in position, and all the bolts are tight, the rail just seems to have play.

the adjuster also blocks the lever for the boot/fuel cap.

Mine are exactly the same. But its not a driftworks iteam its bought in from japan then sold on for more monies like half there stock.

LOL! How much you think Driftworks actually manufactures in Birmingham? Rota wheels? HSD coilovers? Of course not. Get back in yer box.

No but you do expect when you pay 100+ for a seat rail from DW that it doesnt rattle about and have play in.

i would have rather purchased 2 second hand items of better quality.

If your seat rattles about, you need tighter nuts mate. If anything, the sliders are quite stiff to operate.

Go check something.

They will have a tiny bit of play in them anyway as they are adjustable , I have bought loads over the years from different manufactures and its the same . my 2010 VW does the same. Unless you are talking about some serious movment?

i had the same issue, front of the seat was to wide for the rails and wouldnt go low enough ( DW seat on DW rail ) nothing 2 mins with a Die Grinder didnt fix by slotting the two front holes ( iirc 2mm each side ) that bolts to the floor and hey presto it fitted better, easier and worked.

never had any movement or rattles in mine at all

Gaz at Driftgarage has sorted me a bolt to the floor frame. Took him ages and didn't charge me much. I just need to pester him to get it adjusted slightly..

the seat is perfectly tight to the side rails.

the the side rails are perfectly tight to the side mounts

the side mounts are perfectly tight to the floor.

i know how to do a bolt up.

the seat rail has play, i can feel & hear movement when i sit in the seat.

my old ones didn't do this.

id agree with this ^^

the main problem with the driftwork seat rails are only one of the rails have a locking mech. the other is just a sliding rail.

So the seat can have a bit of play in it. I ditched mine for a bride superlow sidemount and never had any problems since

(also dint block my boot release) :smokin:

I also had this problem with my driftcar. Im a bit bigger than the regular type of man (179cm and 90kg) so i will need a bigger set of seats. And had a big problem when i was going to fit my Futura bimarco seats with the DW rail kit. So i ended up in cutting and welding it custom to make it fit. It worked but i got a bit dissapointed when i just thought it was PnP ;).

Information regarding the width of seat the DW rail can accommodate is pretty clearly mentioned in the shop advert "They are adjustable so allow varying width bucket seats to be mounted up to about 41.5cm's between bolt hole to bolt hole (The width of the base of the seat). It may be possible to fit even larger seats, but some 'massaging' of the frames may be required."
How low the seat can go depends on the seat, and most importantly where the mounting lugs are set into the seat. Every brand is different.
Regarding quality I'm extremely surprised to hear anything negative about this. Compared to the other options out there the quality of the DW rails is extremely high. If you have a problem with it rattling then it's either fitment error or there is a fault with the product, in which case you should return it to us so we can do something about it instead of just moaning on the internet ;).

i purchased them almost a year ago, but only got round to fitting about a month ago.

because i dont drive the car at the moment i couldnt be arsed to contact you guys moaning about it, so i just thought id post in a thread you were part of RE seats.

everything is perfectly tight, the seat fits fine, the positioning is fine, but there is play in the rail.

my previous rails did not do this.

if this is of concern to you, i can contact DW sales regarding this so you can check the rails out?

also do you also find the seat adjuster blocks you from using the petrol/boot lever?

Boot lever thing happens with most rails. I've had cobra, bride, DW and buddy club rails and they all got in the way of s and r body boot/fuel lever
